PARENTMAP DOMINATES INDUSTRY AWARDS
Sets a new record, winning 30 nods for editorial and design excellence
March 8, 2010
Seattle's ParentMap newsmagazine has just been awarded 30 prestigious industry awards for editorial, design and Web excellence. The Parenting Publications of America (PPA) awarded the honors at its annual convention in Charlotte, North Carolina last weekend.
ParentMap was singled out from more than 1,000 entries from more than 60 publications in the US, Canada and Australia. Among top design honors won by ParentMap this year: the Gold Award for "excellent, authentic, surprising photography," and both the Silver and Gold Awards for overall use of color.
ParentMap took home multiple awards for editorial excellence, winning the Silver Award for investigative reporting for the feature "Worked up About Homework," and the Silver for news reporting for the feature "Unschool Me!" The education column, Getting School Ready, won the Gold Award for its "strong storytelling and accomplished writing."
ParentMap's Web site, parentmap.com, is lauded as the best in the nation for its content and writing. "The front page is a great listing of important news now -- the site reads like a news site and less like a magazine." The site won the Gold Award for content and the Bronze for design.
ParentMap is a free monthly newsmagazine based in Seattle; the company also publishes several family-focused annual issues, several weekly e-newsletters and a book division. ParentMap also hosts the annual Pathways Lecture Series for parents, this year featuring Dr. John Gottman, Dr. Carol Dweck and Dr. Laura Kastner, among others. More information is at parentmap.com.
