An empowering talk on leadership for teens and their parents. Drawing on his incredible life experiences, former president of Starbucks inspires teens to explore their values and begin plotting a course to realize their dreams.


Attention Teens and their Parents! Join Howard Behar, former president of Starbucks Coffee Company and author of “Its Not About The Coffee,” for an enlightening, inspirational, and refreshing talk about leadership principles that is sure to energize and motivate the minds of both young and the young at heart (that’s you parents!). Pulling from life experience, Mr. Behar will enlighten and inform by sharing anecdotes about his own leadership decisions that went on to make Starbucks the multi-billion dollar, international success that it is today. With a focus on developing successful skill sets and leadership practices that can be adopted by teenagers, this is a talk that will leave young people feeling empowered. It is never too early to start building a foundation for success and to support your child is realizing their dreams.

Behar's book, It's Not About the Coffee: Lessons on Putting People First from a Life at Starbucks, emphasizes ten principles aimed at developing leadership skills not just in business, but in life as well. Behar joined Starbucks in 1989 and was influential in the growth of the company from 28 regional stores to more than 400 by the time he was named president of Starbucks Coffee in 1995. He retired in 2003 but continued to serve as a director of the company from 1996 to 2008.
