Awesome Animal Attraction
Winner: Woodland Park Zoo
This animal attraction continues to earn our voters’ adoration. The award-winning Woodland Park Zoo just opened its Assam Rhino Reserve, home to a greater one-horned rhinoceros. Interact with the 1,000-plus animals that populate the spacious, naturalistic exhibits. And don’t miss the outdoor photography exhibit (through Oct. 7) that features work from the National Geographic Photo Ark project, which aims to document every species living in the world’s zoos and wildlife sanctuaries.
Voters love Kelsey Creek Farm because it offers an urban farm escape in the middle of downtown Bellevue. This 1930s-style working farm includes picturesque white clapboard barns, paths for hiking, a playground, picnic tables and plenty of farm animals, including ponies, cows, sheep, bunnies, chickens and pigs in its pastures (visitors can view but not pet). For hands-on interaction, sign up for farm classes, school tours and birthday parties.
Located near the Paradise entrance of Mount Rainier National Park, Northwest Trek Wildlife Park offers guests an amazing animal experience: Take a tram ride through the park for close-up views of native species, such as bison, elk and bighorn sheep. Next up: climbing fun at the epic playground or a zip-line challenge course through the forest at Zip Wild.
Voters have spoken: the Olympic Game Farm driving tour offers not-to-be-missed, astounding views of wild creatures, including llamas, a yak, bears, elk and buffalo.
Our readers know that Tacoma’s Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium offers awesome viewing of both water and land worlds. Guests love its outdoor show, camel rides, and especially the Pacific walruses, sea otters and tufted puffins that live nearby.
