Everyone loves free stuff, but we parents might have an extra-special appreciation for free things. It must be the near-constant chorus of little voices around us always begging for something.

Soft-serve ice cream specialist Dairy Queen delivers a chance for parents to give an easy "yes" on Tuesday, March 20, with its annual Free Cone Day. DQ locations across the country are offering a free small cone to anyone, one per person, all day long. Nearly all DQ locations are participating, but not those inside shopping malls.

Around the Seattle area, find a Dairy Queen near you by typing your zip code into the location finder. To the north of Seattle, find DQs in Lynnwood, Edmonds, Everett, Lake Stevens and Marysville.

Eastside-area locations include Bothell, Kirkland, Woodinville, Monroe, Redmond, Bellevue and Renton.

South of Seattle Dairy Queen locations stretch from Burien and Kent to Auburn, Federal Way, Fife, Tacoma, Gig Harbor and Olympia.

Hours vary at each store, but are generally 10 a.m.–10 p.m. If you're going far out of your way to claim your free cone or just want to be sure your DQ location of choice is participating, we recommend calling ahead to confirm.

Dairy Queen welcomes donations for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals, a charity raising funds and awareness for a network of member hospitals, on Free Cone Day.

Now get to a Dairy Queen lickety-split!
