10 Great Reasons to Take the Kids to Ireland

Trees, Northern Ireland

Tips for parents

Getting around

A rental car is the best way to get around Ireland. That said, Irish people do drive on the left and those small country roads can be tricky. If you’re feeling nervous about a rental, there are a plethora of tour buses and rail tours that will take you to all the hotspots.

Weather

If you like temperate climates, Ireland is the place to go. It rarely gets too hot or too cold. In spring the average highest temperatures range from 46°F to 54°F. In summer the averages for highest temperatures are between 64°F and 68°F and in autumn temperatures range between 64°F and 57°F. In winter temperatures generally stay in the 40s but can dip below 32°F. Snow in Ireland is scarce.

No matter when you go, it's very likely you'll experience four seasons in one day, so come prepared with your fleece, sunscreen and umbrella, just in case!
