Things We Love: Tegu Blocks

Published on: December 30, 2013

tegu2This travel-friendly Tegu Pocket Pouch block set ($24) is all kinds of awesome.

Eight smooth wooden pieces (made out of sustainable Honduran hardwood) fit neatly into a compact felt pouch, making this a perfect toy to take on the road. Even better: The blocks are magnetized, so kids can create all sorts of shapes with them -- and not have them tumble down in the car or plane. If you get a set of these for your child, you may have trouble keeping your hands off them yourself.

The blocks are manufactured in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, where the company has been certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). Finishes are water-based and non-toxic, magnets are safely embedded in the blocks (although the company still doesn't recommend them for the under-3 set), and the blocks come in a variety of woods, colors, sizes and quantities.
