Parent to Parent Video: Help Your Child Avoid the "Bad Crowd"
Filed under: Parent to Parent Videos
ParentMap's Julie Ogata talks to King 5 News about how to help your child stay away from the wrong crowd, and what to do if you think her friends are a bad influence.
- Be patient, don't criticize, and be honest about the fact that your child could, indeed, be doing things you don't approve of.
- Remember that peers may not have as much influence as you think -- and can be positive influences.
- Step in when it's crucial: When your child is involved in illegal activities, cutting class or when your child's self-esteem is suffering.
- Get to know your child's friends and their parents, find out what your child likes about a particular friend, and set limits on your child's behavior.
