Celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. with a Walk in the Park

Calendar/Event Details

Be inspired by the words of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. as you take a winter walk through Lake Sammamish State Park. The walk pays tribute to Dr. King's life and leadership leading up to the nation celebrating his legacy on the MLK holiday January 18, 2021.

The walk will begin at Tibbetts Beach and takes you along the lakeshore to the Sunset Beach bathhouse. Learn about his life and his dreams with quotes along the pathway. Many of his quotes are as relevant today as they were in the 1960s when he initiated change while speaking out for civil rights.

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s most famous speech — the "I have a dream" speech — is captured in its entirety at the end of the walk.

(Note that a Discover Pass is required to park a vehicle at Lake Sammamish State Park, and all state parks.)
