Center for Wooden Boats - Beginning Sailing
Beginning Sailing provides an introduction to the physical skills, terminology and basic theory of sailing. Students sail in pairs or sometimes solo in the 8' El Toro prams. Staff is prepared and experienced with on-the-water safety training, First Aid and CPR. No experience necessary. Financial assistance is available. Center for Wooden Boats - Intermediate Sailing

Our Intermediate class is the next step after the beginning class and gives students time on the water to practice and improve their sailing skills while learning more about the theory and culture of sailing. Students fine-tune their fundamental sailing skills while exploring new elements of sailing such as adventuring, marlinspike seamanship and racing. This is the next step for students who know the basics of sailing and are ready to sail a boat by themselves. Prerequisite: Beginning Sailing or instructor permission. Financial assistance is available. Two 5-day (Mon.-Fri.) sessions available: Jun. 21 - 25 and Jul. 5 - 9.

Beach Camp at Sunset Bay

Beach Camp is the most fun middle and high school students can have this side of Hawaii. With a half acre wharf, several miles of sandy beach, and every imaginable type of water sports equipment, you'll learn sailing, windsurfing, wake surfing, wake-boarding, sea kayaking, and more! Our over-water zip line, tight rope, and flying trapeze add extra excitement, and wet suits and a hot tub keep everyone warm regardless of the weather. Small student to instructor ratio and tiered for all levels of ability. Ten week-long camps available (Jun. 28-Jul. 2, Jul. 5-9, Jul. 12-16, Jul. 19-23, Jul. 26-30, Aug. 2-6, Aug. 9-13, Aug. 16-20, Aug. 23-27 and Aug. 30-Sep. 3).

Do you love books and stories? These day-long classes will delve into the maritime tradition through sailing, reading, journaling and field trips. It's an introduction to all the sailing skills covered in Beginning Sailing and will also embrace students’ imagination and love of stories through a diverse selection of maritime literature and writing exercises. Books and boats shall complement each other to inspire the inner sailor. No experience necessary and financial assistance/pay what you can option is available. Two 5-day sessions available: Jul. 12 - 16 and Aug. 16 - 20.
