If your child is active and enjoys sports and fun PE games, then Great Play camps are perfect for them. Each week, campers master essential skills for two of the following sports: soccer, baseball, basketball, football and floor hockey. Experts recommend “cross-training” with a wide range of sports and physical activities at these ages, rather than specialization, to help children reach their full physical potential – even if they choose to specialize later. There are 2 to 3 coaches in every camp with at 5:1 ratio. Discounts (for multiple week sign-ups or 10% off for siblings) available for the nine 3-day sessions available. Greenway Summer Camps - Lake Sammamish and Squak Mountain
Submitted by Paul M. McNeil
Know of someone who is looking for a fun outdoor activity this summer? Our week-long ecological restoration and trail maintenance camps are specially designed for kids and teens. Come out each morning ready to make a difference! We have exciting events where teens can make friends, learn new skills, explore local creeks and trails, and have fun outside this summer. Lake Sammamish is important for several species of salmon, many birds and a wide variety of amphibians, insects and other wildlife. We will mainly be removing invasive (non-native) weeds: the biggest problem in the area is blackberry. This site is the entrance point for Salmon headed up the stream to spawn and for juveniles to return to Puget Sound. Squak is the least known of the 3 primary mountains in the Issaquah Alps and public use levels are much lower here than on Tiger and Cougar. Over the past decade, the Greenway Trust has begun upgrading these trails to more sustainable standards. Note: Participants in this session are required to wear hiking or work boots. Financial aid is available.

Greenway Summer Camps - Snoqualmie Valley
Submitted by Paul M. McNeil
Know of someone who is looking for a fun outdoor activity this summer? Our week-long ecological restoration and trail maintenance camps are specially designed for kids and teens. An exciting event where teens can make friends, learn new skills, explore local creeks and trails, and have fun outside this summer. Gardiner Creek starts on Rattlesnake Mountain and flows north into the South Fork of the Snoqualmie River. The site of the creek restoration is located right behind the Meadowbrook Farm Interpretive Center in North Bend. Volunteers will find themselves improving trail drainage, reducing erosion, cutting back overgrown brush, and hardening the trail surface. As a result, volunteers must be in good physical condition; they may be hiking several miles (in/out of project site) and doing manual labor such as swinging tools, digging and cutting that will be physically taxing. Participants in this session are required to wear hiking or work boots.
Date: 07/19/2010 - 07/23/2010 - Happens weekly on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday Time: 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. Location: Snoqualmie Valley, North Bend, WA | Map It Ages: 16 - 18 Cost: $125 Event Info: 206-812-0122 | Web site | email
