The doctors, nurses and staff at UW Neighborhood Ravenna Clinic believe that primary care is more than just sniffles and shots. Our clinic was founded on the idea that it is our responsibility — and our calling — to help you and your family maintain healthy lifestyles and achieve your healthcare goals. And we’ll be here for you – every step of the way – offering the complete spectrum of primary care for your entire family, including obstetrics and gynecology, travel medicine and nutrition services. A family of care We’re proud to say that our clinic has been nationally recognized by the National Committee for Quality Assurance as a Patient-Centered Medical Home. So what does that mean? It’s simple: • We’re dedicated to providing you and your family with comprehensive, high-quality and cost-effective care that is accessible, family-centered, coordinated, compassionate and culturally appropriate. And because we’re part of the UW Medicine system, you can register to access the health information of your children 12 years of age and younger through UW Medicine eCare. Which makes it easy to get secure, online access to your child’s personal health information, email his or her healthcare team, schedule and cancel appointments, order medication refills, request a referral, and review his or her medical history and lab results. Should the need arise, our care team can coordinate your child’s care with expert specialists, hospitals and/or other providers to ensure that your child receives the best advanced care possible. Relationships matter Too often these days, going to the doctor can feel impersonal. At UW Neighborhood Ravenna Clinic, we believe that developing a relationship with your child’s healthcare team means that we can provide your child with care that is tailored to his or her physical and cultural needs. How do we do it? Our clinic was designed to enhance your experience and give you and your child’s physician the ability to maximize your time together. After one of our staff members measures your child’s height and weight in the exam room, you and your child’s physician will sit together to review and discuss your child’s medical record. • We believe that the time you spend with your child’s physician is invaluable. This one-on-one review time strengthens the patient-physician relationship and ultimately improves your child’s overall well-being. And our electronic medical records allow our physicians to have your child’s entire UW Medicine health record at their fingertips — which means that we’re able to efficiently provide you with comprehensive, safe and effective care. Convenience counts Everybody’s busy these days. With work, school, after-school activities and everything else, who’s got time to be sick? That’s why we’ve set up our clinic to be as efficient as possible, saving you time and helping you get better and get on with your life. We know that illness can strike anytime, not just during office hours, so we’re set up to provide care for your child, even when our clinic is closed. Call us during the day or night to receive prompt medical advice or instructions from one of our medically trained staff members. And when you do need to come in for an appointment, our on-site lab can perform a wide variety of tests including strep throat testing, urine testing, flu testing and many more. Our lab staff also performs blood work on site for cholesterol and diabetes management. • This means your blood work and doctor’s visit can happen at the same time — not days or weeks apart. And you and your physician can review the results before you leave the clinic. If you need an X-ray, we can often do it right in the clinic. Your provider will review the X-ray and discuss it with you — and it will then be formally assessed by a UW Medicine radiologist in consultation with your physician. We’re working hard to make sure your visit to our clinic is as effective and efficient as possible. Your feedback is important to us. As a UW Neighborhood Clinic patient, you may receive a satisfaction survey in the mail. We want to hear how we are doing. Whether you identify something we are doing well or something we may need to improve, our leadership and care teams carefully review and follow up on your feedback. Happy to be here UW Neighborhood Ravenna Clinic opened our doors on October 3, 2011. We’re thrilled to be a part of the vibrant Ravenna neighborhood and hope to become more involved in the community, participating in events at University Village as well as hosting future events such as bicycle helmet or car seat fittings. Our family medicine physicians Dr. Stephen Emmons, Dr. Lucy Hwang, Dr. Pamela Sheffield, Dr. Zubin Vasavada and Dr. Crystal Wong — and obstetrician/gynecologist Dr. Sue Moreni — look forward to getting to know you and serving as your family physicians for many years to come.
