Michelle Delano is an artist and a professor, and joins us from Virginia where she heads the Art department at Richard Bland College of the College of William and Mary. Michelle has a special gift for helping kids of all ages access and explore their inner world through art. Having received the Governor’s Outstanding Faculty Award, Michelle's focus on teaching art and creativity has extended into variety of settings, including schools and community organizations.

We have partnered with Chess4Life in Bellevue to offer campers a full day camp option. Chess4Life instructors make the game come to life through exciting lessons on strategy, tactics, and many other topics that open the world of chess to students. Play chess in the morning and learn to fence in the afternoon. Transportation to and from Chess4Life and RCFC is provided by Chess4Life. Level 1 fencing is for complete beginners to the sport of fencing. We will teach footwork, basic blade skills, and simple bouting techniques.

Our USFCA certified instructors start at the very beginning with the on guard position and basic footwork. We teach basic offensive and defensive moves, the basic rules of the game of foil fencing, and end with an informal tournament on Friday. Kids' classes play lots of fencing-related games. Junior classes are a little more focused on technique, tactics, and mechanics. Our goal in both camps is to have fun while learning the basics of modern Olympic sports fencing.

Can robots think? How do they know what to do? Campers this week will begin to answer these questions as they explore the world of robotics! Campers will spend the week learning to build and program robots to perform simple tasks using Lego kits and BeeBots.

Ropeworks’ jump rope camps are directed and run by World Jump Rope Champion and Cirque Du Soleil Artist Rene Bibaud. Boys and girls of all skill levels are invited to participate in our jump rope camps, which teach kids the following disciplines: single rope skills, partner routines, double Dutch, jumping long rope skills, group game choreography and more. Kids work together in a fun and rewarding environment of goal setting, best effort and team building. Play games, learn skills, develop new skills and stay fit in our fun-filled high energy program that really gets kids jumping! Camp culminates with a performance for friends and family.

SAM Campers will go back in time exploring art from the Pacific Northwest and across many continents! Time capsules, comics, futuristic portraits and dress-up are just part of the adventure! Discover the insects and creatures living in the garden. Hone your urban tracking skills. Find creature habitats. Plant seeds and tend the garden. Keep a garden journal to track your discoveries. This theme-based weeklong day camp is a great way to have summer fun while learning about the fascinating world of the garden. Spend five days developing practical garden skills, exploring plants and discovering animals that live in Seattle Tilth's community learning gardens and Meridian Park. This camp is intended for those entering grades 1-4 in fall 2013.

If your teen or preteen loves gardening and working with younger students, this is for them! Junior Counselors help set-up and clean-up garden activities, assist Children's Garden staff, lead small group activities and learn more about organic gardening. Week-long placements offer all the fun of summer camp with the opportunity to develop leadership skills. Jr. Counselors come 30 minutes before campers arrive and stay 30 minutes after campers depart to help set-up and clean-up (these times are built into the listing below). Leadership training and orientation will be provided.

Serevi Rugby summer camps give aspiring and experienced youth rugby players the opportunity to learn, develop and test their running, passing, catching and kicking abilities through several skill based games and activities, scrimmages and a culminating "rugby skills combine." All activities will be age and ability appropriate. With an emphasis on safety, fun and being active, campers will "learn through doing" with our Serevi "certified" coaching staff. This fun, interactive, hands-on series is designed for kids in the kitchen, learning good food choices and great cooking skills for a lifetime. Chef Pam makes cooking fun. With picnic fare, campfire food, breakfast, lunch, dinner and snack foods, campers will learn it all. Topics include: Day 1: Top o' the Mornin, Breakfast — The most important meal of the day. Day 2: Earl of Sandwich — did you know that sandwiches were invented in England? Day 3: Campfire Grill — Gather round, sing a few songs, prepare and enjoy an alfresco lunch.
