Ekone Ranch Passage for Girls: A Coming-of-Age Journey in Nature
Date: 08/04/2013 - 08/10/2013
Time: Overnight
Location: 401 Ekone Rd, Goldendale, WA 98620 | Map It
Ages: Ages 12-19 Cost: $700 (scholarships available)
Event Info: 509-773-6800 | Web site | emailEkone Ranch offers a one-of-a-kind camp program on 1060 acres of canyonlands, forests and meadows near the Columbia Gorge. Our residential, co-ed camp program features small groups of no more than 20 children per session and a 6:1 camper/staff ratio or better. Horse camp sessions emphasize the special relationship between children and horses. Campers spend many hours each day with our wonderful horses, grooming, learning groundwork, practicing in the arena, and going on long trail rides through spectacular country. We ride bareback and western. When not with the horses, campers are engaged in a variety of art projects, nature explorations, swimming, ranch activities and chores. Our garden-fresh, from-scratch food is a highlight of the camp experience (many a camper has learned to love their vegetables in the Yummy Tummy Cafe). Campers sleep in our A-frame longhouse, in tipis, under the stars, or in the hay barn where we listen to the horses breathe all night long. Due to our small session size, we are happy to accommodate some children with special needs or dietary considerations--please contact us for more information. Please visit our website at www.ekone.org or call 509-773-4536 for more information.
This is one of our non-horse focused camps. Young women are invited to spend a week on a journey of self-discovery in nature. Explore your inner wisdom, passions and creativity through daily practices of meditation, journaling, art, movement, drumming, and horse play. This life-changing week will include solo time for reflection, a ceremonial sweat, sharing in group council and a ceremony welcoming you into womanhood. We will learn how plants and animals are our allies as we walk the land, discover our spirit animals and dance the night away!

Scout Awareness Overnight Camp
Date: 08/04/2013 - 08/09/2013
Time: Overnight
Location: Wilderness Awareness School, Duvall | Map It
Ages: Ages 11-14 Cost: $695
Event Info: 425-788-1301 Ext.34 | Web siteThis five-night camp is devoted to developing the keen awareness demonstrated by the ancient ”scouts” of many cultures. These were the people who knew the landscape and everything that was happening on it in order to keep their people safe and healthy in the face of the challenges of living from the land. Often remaining invisible, their abilities seemed like magic. Through adventures with camouflage, bird language (the alarm system of the forest), wildlife and human tracking, stealthy movement, and wild edible plants, we begin to enter the world of the scout. Participants in this camp at our school campus near Duvall will likely never see nature the same way again! Scout Overnight Camp begins at 1 p.m. on Sunday and ends at 12 p.m. on Friday. Parents are encouraged to arrive at 11 a.m. on Friday All youth overnight participants must return a signed Physician’s Medical Form by June 1. This is for the safety of our participants and our organization. Completion of this form will require a physical exam completed within one year of the course date, and an appointment with that physician for the form to be filled out. We appreciate your understanding.
