Ekone Ranch offers a one-of-a-kind camp program on 1060 acres of canyonlands, forests and meadows near the Columbia Gorge. Adolescence can be a turbulent and trying time and most of our young people are launched into it with little consciousness and even less preparation. Becoming a Young Woman was created to help girls cross the bridge between childhood and youth in love and beauty. It will help them reach young womanhood with a deeper sense of themselves, their own inner and outer beauty and the gifts they bring to the world, so that they may walk through their teen years with strength and self-confidence. This group of 10 middle school girls will spend a week at a moon lodge on Bainbridge Island, engaging in a Rite of Passage experience to honor and celebrate the conscious step into young womanhood with a sweat bath ceremony, an 8-hour solo in the woods, and a ritual of welcoming to womanhood. The challenges of navigation have confronted explorers from the beginning of time. From observing the stars, to reading compasses, to radio direction finders and GPS, campers will learn about the ways navigators are able to get from here to there without getting lost!

Asia Pacific Language School offers elementary school children the opportunity to learn the Chinese Mandarin or Japanese language and culture while having fun. Our camp's morning program will focus on language study (conversational and writing skills) and cultural studies. In the afternoon, we will offer a variety of activities, including projects and arts to learn the Asian culture, going to parks for outdoor play, swimming, and field trips.

In this inspiring program youth will learn: Yoga poses that increase physical strength and self confidence, breathing/meditation methods to help calm your body and mind, nutritional knowledge of how food affects mood, energy and vitality, methods for easy relaxation and stress management, the power of laughter and positive thinking, how to build strong, healthy relationships and creative expression through art and journaling. At this camp, each camper will have a whole chicken to de-bone. This chicken will be used to create a family meal that will be sent home at the end of the week. We will use every part of the chicken, making chicken sausage, wings for lunch, chicken breast parmesan for the take home dinner. The meal taken home on Friday will include: Chicken sausage bruschetta, local organic salad, Pappardelle pasta with tomato sauce, Chicken Parmesan, and fresh mini fruit pies.

Grab a rolling pin and put on an apron! We’re going to be sifting, whisking, kneading, mixing and measuring as we bake savory and sweet creations from scratch. You’ll learn skills from the basics of proper measuring and correct utensil use to cake creations, flay pie crusts, the basics of working with yeasted dough and much more!

This camp encompasses favorites that are typically inexpensive, uncomplicated, and easy to prepare. In addition to a brief sojourn into ethnic foods, this camp will focus on practical meals and homemade favorites. These dishes are particularly good for young people when they need to keep costs down. Your young chef will rub elbows with many professional chefs all week long becoming competent and proficient in the kitchen by actually practicing hands-on culinary skills with them for five hours a day! With Book-It, you will dig into the juicy parts of a story - characters, setting, sequence, point of view - then take it apart and put it together again as a script you will act out on stage. You'll spend the week in teamwork with your peers exploring stories in a fun, physical way. Finally, your new "acting ensemble" will share your work in a final performance. Camp TechWise offers instruction in a variety of areas, including:  Photography / Video (short-film): Students will research, script, storyboard, shoot and edit a complete video short film. Game Creation: Students use game authoring software to build a multi-level computer game. Music / Sound / Video Editing: combine video with sound editing (what is called Multi-Track production) and mix in a heavy dose of singing. Programming: Intro to Programming. It’s not easy and you will be learning… but it is cool and the results are totally worth it! Digital Photography Workshop: Students select, shoot, manipulate, and present a portfolio & gallery. During Summer Intensive at Emerald Ballet Academy, experienced dancers delve into their craft while increasing strength, flexibility, stamina, technique and artistry. Weeklong sessions can be taken separately or combined for a total of six weeks. Includes ballet technique, pointe/pre-pointe, stretching/conditioning, character, contemporary, modern, and variations. How does a butterfly eat? Do snakes really dig holes? What’s a mountain beaver? How does an owl see at night? We’ll investigate these questions and more through experiments, exploration, games, stories, and art. Spend a week with one of our naturalists and you’ll leave with a whole new appreciation of the science behind the world around us and the creatures that inhabit it.

Believe it or not, scientists spend a lot of time outdoors. We’ll follow in their footsteps as we investigate the mysteries behind the world we live in and learn what makes it tick. Our creeks, ponds, wetlands, forests, meadows, and fully-stocked laboratory will be our classroom. You’ll get to meet some of the scientists behind the Brightwater Treatment plant and learn how Brightwater helps keep the Puget Sound clean. We’ll integrate games, art, and free exploration as well to round out the week and make sure that you’ll leave with a new understanding of what it means to “do science.”

How did people reach for the skies before they had airplanes? From the giant man-lifting kites of the ancient Chinese to Montgolfiers’ balloon, campers will explore all the ways people explored the skies centuries before the Wright brothers were ever born.

Explore the wonderful world of insects at Lake Washington Girls Middle School. Together, we will delve into the world of insects through 3 dimensional art projects, scavenger hunts through our neighborhood, educational games and hands on dissections of a grasshopper. Whether your girls are afraid of creepy crawlies or fascinated by arthropods, they will love this week of STEAM-focused fun. STEAM Camp is an exciting and hands-on learning opportunity for young people with a special emphasis on the STEAM curriculum areas (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics). As educators, we must provide educational opportunities that endeavor to integrate the arts, sciences, and technology for this to happen. LWGMS already embraces this educational model, and is currently in the process of developing curriculum for our students that is cutting edge, and that integrates the arts into the STEM model: STEAM. Seattle may have a lot of rain, but we also have lots of lakes and beaches to play in during the summer. In this two day camp, kids will make beach necessities, a swimsuit coverup and floppy beach hat. They will learn the basics of sewing on the machine as well as oodles of other sewing techniques. A small materials list will be emailed before class.

Your child will spend the week with Jenny Pell discovering a new relationship with their environment and their food. Right outside OmCulture’s backdoor is our very own gardening and permaculture learning center.

This camp is all about putting things together and building. They will transform drawings into 3 dimensional works of art while working on concepts like visual balance and narrative. Students will create collages, wall-hangings, buildings, spaceships and cars out of cardboard, plastic, paper, wood and much more.

Our Level 1 (beginning) camps are designed for the complete beginner. We provide all the required fencing equipment. Our USFCA certified instructors start at the very beginning with the on guard position and basic footwork. We teach basic offensive and defensive moves, the basic rules of the game of foil fencing, and end with an informal tournament on Friday. Junior classes are focused on technique, tactics, and mechanics. Our goal in camp is to have fun while learning the basics of modern Olympic sports fencing.

Our Level 1 (beginning) camps are designed for the complete beginner. We provide all the required fencing equipment. Our USFCA certified instructors start at the very beginning with the on guard position and basic footwork. We teach basic offensive and defensive moves, the basic rules of the game of foil fencing, and end with an informal tournament on Friday. Kids' classes play lots of fencing-related games.
