Seattle Drum School Rock Band Camp is an amazing experience for young musicians of any skill level! It's their chance to unlock their creative potential, acquire rehearsal skills, and learn cooperation and teamwork. The band members will work with a full time coach who will encourage them to build their own sound and even to compose their own songs if they're interested! The final performance, the Friday of camp at 1 p.m. in the L.A.B., is not to be missed by family, friends, neighbors, anyone who loves to see the unbelievable results of five days of collaboration and magic.

Camps are held at both of our Seattle locations: Seattle Drum School - North, 12510 15th Ave. N.E., Seattle, WA 98125 and Seattle Drum School - Georgetown, 1010 S. Bailey, Seattle, WA 98108.

This camp will be a fun exploration of popular music for kids. Participants will be grouped according to their playing level and experience. Each group will rotate through different pods where they will learn contemporary, child-friendly songs on different instruments. Instruments will include piano, drums and guitar. Campers will learn about chords, sight-reading, ear training and ensemble playing. The campers will be able to play in “bands” where they will record a music video of the songs they work on throughout the camp. The camp will work on valuable music concepts as well as skills children can apply to other activities. The campers will learn the importance of working well with others, communicating effectively and helping one another understand new concepts. Every participant will need to pack a lunch each day. Ropeworks’ jump rope camps are directed and run by World Jump Rope Champion and Cirque Du Soleil Artist Rene Bibaud. Boys and girls of all skill levels are invited to participate in our jump rope camps, which teach kids the following disciplines: single rope skills, partner routines, double Dutch, jumping long rope skills, group game choreography and more. Kids work together in a fun and rewarding environment of goal setting, best effort and team building. Play games, learn skills, develop new skills and stay fit in our fun-filled high energy program that really gets kids jumping! Camp culminates with a performance for friends and family.

Are you ready to put your art on the map? Make collages, paintings and sculptures in response to art from around the globe. Along the way campers will create their own passports, mixed media maps, masks and more. This week will also include fun music workshops and a visit to the galleries at Seattle Art Museum Downtown. What is Punk? A genre? A lifestyle? An attitude? Students in this performance camp will ask these questions while learning from the artists that challenged the status quo. From The Ramones to Green Day, punk can be simple an complex at the same time. All Performance Camps run one week with a special performance at at a real rock venue on Friday early evening. For students 8-18, some experience required.

Help! Prue’s little brother has been kidnapped by crows and flown into the Impassable Wilderness! Join the rescue mission this summer in this drama intensive. In three weeks we will explore the aspects of theater both on and off the stage, looking not only at character, but also setting, costumes and most importantly imagination.

Now is the perfect time to plant your fall and winter garden. Set up a plant nursery, plant seed flats and take seeds home to grow. Create your own seed catalog and garden journal. This theme-based weeklong day camp is a great way to have summer fun while learning about the fascinating world of the garden. Spend five days developing practical garden skills, exploring plants and discovering animals that live in Seattle Tilth's community learning gardens and Meridian Park. This camp is intended for campers entering grades 1-4 in fall 2013.

If your teen or preteen loves gardening and working with younger students, this is for them! Junior Counselors help set-up and clean-up garden activities, assist Children's Garden staff, lead small group activities and learn more about organic gardening. Week-long placements offer all the fun of summer camp with the opportunity to develop leadership skills. Jr. Counselors come 30 minutes before campers arrive and stay 30 minutes after campers depart to help set-up and clean-up (these times are built into the listing below). Leadership training and orientation will be provided.

Engage in fun, hands-on activities as you create your own masterpieces in our Do-It-Yourself Camp! Get your hands dirty as you squeeze, coil, and build original sculptures out of clay. Put on the chef’s hat and make desserts that are both delicious and beautiful. Turn a pair of boring white canvas shoes into art by painting a fashion-forward design and showing them off on the runway. Become a chocolatier at Dawn’s Candy & Cake Chocolate 101 class. At D.I.Y. Camp, we empower our campers to say, “Yes, I did it myself!”

At Mandarin Immersion Camp for K-2nd and 3rd-5th grades, we help campers build language and cultural competency while having lots of summer fun! Our camp leaders are great at making kids excited about language, culture and the world – and they happen to be native-speaking, experienced language teachers, too. Campers are grouped by language experience and ability where appropriate. Dragons, magic, and martial arts! Join us for a Mandarin language immersion adventure. We’ll travel across the ocean and learn about some magical characters from China. Campers will explore Chinese myths, festivals, and foods. We will tell stories about magical dragons, make boats for the Dragon Boat Festival and cook delicious dumplings!

July 22 - 26 Theatre Fun: BECOMING THE CHARACTER! This fun class will focus on character creation & acting choices including physical and vocal character work.

Designed to immerse young actors in a total theatre experience, each one-week production offers actors the unforgettable chance to rehearse, design, and publically perform the week’s production.

July 8-12 BEST OF BROADWAY Performs July 13 @ 3pm. A compilation of scenes from some of Broadway’s most famous playwrights: Arthur Miller, Neil Simon, Lillian Hellman, Thorton Wilder and more! – all featuring young characters. Actors will play characters that are their own age in a beautiful collection of some of Broadway’s finest moments.

July 15-19 A TRIBUTE TO ANNE FRANK Performs July 20 @ 3pm. Through selections from her diary and scenes from the award-winning play by Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett, each young actress will take on the role of Anne Frank as we tell one of history’s tragedies through the eyes of a young girl.

July 22-26 FICTION IN THE FOOTLIGHTS Performs July 27 @ 3pm. Join us for this beautiful compilation of scenes and monologues from classic junior fiction. Selections include: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, Charlotte’s Web, The Hobbit, The Giver, Little Women and more!

Our Farm Day Camps are a great way to learn about all the great things that happen on a farm every day. Learn all about gardening, composting, recycling, cooking, water dynamics, and caring for all the various farm animals, chickens, goats, horses, and ponies. Enjoy more fun stuff each day with Arts and Crafts, Games, and much more.

This class is for those eager to learn the basics and more on the potter’s wheel from professionals. We will provide you the license to drive this wheel! A concentrated class time on consecutive days will allow you to really dig in to clay. Centering, wedging, trimming, handles, and glazing all in the space of one week. If you know this already, OK! go further, lids, slip work, faceting on and on. You can sign up for either week or both. A dream come true? You are not dreaming, we look forward to seeing you here. We will provide the clay, a loaner tool kit, excellent instruction and a lot of fun.

A week of chess that will delight any young chess player. Puzzles and challenges will be available for all levels of play. Appropriate for any level from beginner to experienced tournament players! Packed full of fun puzzles, serious challenges and with plenty of time for bughouse and other fun games too.

This camp expands on the experiences of our Nature Adventure Day Camps providing your camper with opportunities for more fun along with development of more focused wilderness skills. All campers will receive training and assessment in the safe use of knives, and will have opportunity during the week to use this skill with the attentive supervision of our staff. Other skills that your camper will have the opportunity to practice will include some (but not necessarily all) of the following; making fire with matches and with friction, safe and effective fire tending techniques, principles of shelter-building, identifying and harvesting wild edibles, open-fire cooking and stalking bullfrogs (catch-and-release only at this camp, no hunting). Projects might include making baskets for collecting wild food, candle making and hand-twisting cordage! Along with the focus on survival skills, your camper should be ready for some serious on-trail and off-trail exploration at our property in the foothills outside of Duvall. They may find themselves wading through the sword ferns gathering material for a shelter, crawling through a thicket to get at that perfect stick for a fire-making kit, or wading at the edge of our pond to gather cattail roots for a wild lunch. No matter what specific activities and adventures we have during a week of Survival Skills Day Camp, our goals remain the same -- that your child have fun, while learning about nature and themselves. At the end of a week with us, we hope that you see in your child increased self-confidence, as well as excitement about an assortment of new skills and stories of adventure.

This camp is specially designed for younger, developing wrestlers who want to understand this amazing sport. It's your opportunity to increase your skills, techniques and maneuvers, while developing your conditioning, motivation, sportsmanship and character. Our amazing BCS Wrestling Coaching staff and BCS Varsity Wrestlers will be at camp for five afternoons of fun, sweat and training.

Come explore the Dramatic Arts in a supportive and fun environment! This class we'll focus on creating an original performance using our bodies, voices and imaginations. Students will memorize lines, create original characters, and learn what it takes to prepare their work for performance. Led by Wedgwood Drama Studio’s Christi Cruz.

Art projects include outdoor still life with ink wash, tie dye t-shirt or beach cloth, paper mache free choice, painted paper owl, mermaid or seascape, Seattle foil citiscape or scratchart. Summer comes and goes each year but fashionable wardrobe stapes are forever. In this class the kids learn sewing basics, using patterns and finishing techniques while creating a maxi dress, wrap skirt and cinch purse. Just what every fashionable girl needs in her wardrobe! Please note: This class is for kids who already have a firm understanding of the sewing machine. A materials list will be emailed to you closer to the class date.

Cougar Quest is a residential academic summer camp for highly capable students on the Washington State University campus in Pullman, Washington (75 miles south of Spokane, WA). The camp is designed to meet the educational and social needs of young college-bound students entering grades 7 through 12 in fall 2013. There are two weeks of camp, one to accommodate entering 7th through 9th graders and the second for entering 9th through 12th graders. Students entering 9th grade have the option of choosing one week, or attending both. For one exciting week high achieving students attend three rigorous workshops of their choosing. Most workshops are taught by Washington State University professors and are full of hands-on activities that are meant to challenge and keep the interest of students.

Ekone Ranch offers a one-of-a-kind camp program on 1060 acres of canyonlands, forests and meadows near the Columbia Gorge. Our residential, co-ed camp program features small groups of no more than 20 children per session and a 6:1 camper/staff ratio or better. Horse camp sessions emphasize the special relationship between children and horses. Campers spend many hours each day with our wonderful horses, grooming, learning groundwork, practicing in the arena, and going on long trail rides through spectacular country. We ride bareback and western. When not with the horses, campers are engaged in a variety of art projects, nature explorations, swimming, ranch activities and chores. Our garden-fresh, from-scratch food is a highlight of the camp experience (many a camper has learned to love their vegetables in the Yummy Tummy Cafe). Campers sleep in our A-frame longhouse, in tipis, under the stars, or in the hay barn where we listen to the horses breathe all night long. The All-Level Horse Camp sessions have a maximum group size of 24 and a minimum staff:camper ratio of 1:5.  This is one of our co-ed sessions.

This community-based three-week backpacking adventure will help your teen navigate the challenging road from childhood to adulthood. Your teen will have a chance to imagine how they want to be as adults, and then explore and practice what this means to them and their families, friends and communities. During three exciting weeks, teens develop a range of personal and interpersonal skills. A long backpacking trek lets them practice teamwork and wilderness skills. Solo time, journalling and nightly talking circles help them connect to and articulate their deeper thoughts and dreams.

This five night camp is focused on learning wilderness survival skills basics while practicing them daily at our school campus near Duvall. Campers will have opportunities to practice fire making, knife safety and carving, shelter construction and primitive cooking. They may choose to create their own fire kit, spoon, bowl or other similar craft to take home. Participants will also have the opportunity to sleep in shelters they have constructed from natural materials. They are sure to bring home amazing stories from this week with us! Survival Overnight Camp begins at 1 p.m. on Sunday and ends at 12 p.m. on Friday. Parents are encouraged to arrive at 11 a.m. on Friday. All youth overnight participants must return a signed Physician’s Medical Form upon registration. This is for the safety of our participants and our organization. Completion of this form will require a physical exam completed within one year of the course date, and an appointment with that physician for the form to be filled out.
