Digging in the soil, getting their hands dirty, children thrive as they learn to grow fruits and vegetables in an engaging, sustainable manner! Your child will spend the week with Jenny Pell discovering a new relationship with their environment and their food. Right outside OmCulture’s backdoor is our very own gardening and permaculture learning center.

This camp is all about putting things together and building. They will transform drawings into 3 dimensional works of art while working on concepts like visual balance and narrative. Students will create collages, wall-hangings, buildings, spaceships and cars out of cardboard, plastic, paper, wood and much more.

Our Level 1 (beginning) camps are designed for the complete beginner. We provide all the required fencing equipment. Our USFCA certified instructors start at the very beginning with the on guard position and basic footwork. We teach basic offensive and defensive moves, the basic rules of the game of foil fencing, and end with an informal tournament on Friday. Junior classes are focused on technique, tactics, and mechanics. Our goal in camp is to have fun while learning the basics of modern Olympic sports fencing.

Seattle Drum School Rock Band Camp is an amazing experience for young musicians of any skill level! It's their chance to unlock their creative potential, acquire rehearsal skills, and learn cooperation and teamwork. The band members will work with a full time coach who will encourage them to build their own sound and even to compose their own songs if they're interested! The final performance, the Friday of camp at 1 p.m. in the L.A.B., is not to be missed by family, friends, neighbors, anyone who loves to see the unbelievable results of five days of collaboration and magic.

Camps are held at both of our Seattle locations: Seattle Drum School - North, 12510 15th Ave. N.E., Seattle, WA 98125 and Seattle Drum School - Georgetown, 1010 S. Bailey, Seattle, WA 98108.

This camp will be a fun exploration of popular music for kids. Participants will be grouped according to their playing level and experience. Each group will rotate through different pods where they will learn contemporary, child-friendly songs on different instruments. Instruments will include piano, drums and guitar. Campers will learn about chords, sight-reading, ear training and ensemble playing. The campers will be able to play in “bands” where they will record a music video of the songs they work on throughout the camp. The camp will work on valuable music concepts as well as skills children can apply to other activities. The campers will learn the importance of working well with others, communicating effectively and helping one another understand new concepts. Every participant will need to pack a lunch each day. Ropeworks’ jump rope camps are directed and run by World Jump Rope Champion and Cirque Du Soleil Artist Rene Bibaud. Boys and girls of all skill levels are invited to participate in our jump rope camps, which teach kids the following disciplines: single rope skills, partner routines, double Dutch, jumping long rope skills, group game choreography and more. Kids work together in a fun and rewarding environment of goal setting, best effort and team building. Play games, learn skills, develop new skills and stay fit in our fun-filled high energy program that really gets kids jumping! Camp culminates with a performance for friends and family.

Are you ready to put your art on the map? Make collages, paintings and sculptures in response to art from around the globe. Along the way campers will create their own passports, mixed media maps, masks and more. This week will also include fun music workshops and a visit to the galleries at Seattle Art Museum Downtown. Drop-off and pick-up location: Seattle Asian Art Museum.

What is Punk? A genre? A lifestyle? An attitude? Students in this performance camp will ask these questions while learning from the artists that challenged the status quo. From The Ramones to Green Day, punk can be simple an complex at the same time. All Performance Camps run one week with a special performance at at a real rock venue on Friday early evening. For students 8-18, some experience required.

Now is the perfect time to plant your fall and winter garden. Set up a plant nursery, plant seed flats and take seeds home to grow. Create your own seed catalog and garden journal. This theme-based weeklong day camp is a great way to have summer fun while learning about the fascinating world of the garden. Spend five days developing practical garden skills, exploring plants and discovering animals that live in Seattle Tilth's community learning gardens and Meridian Park. This camp is intended for campers entering grades 1-4 in fall 2013.

If your teen or preteen loves gardening and working with younger students, this is for them! Junior Counselors help set-up and clean-up garden activities, assist Children's Garden staff, lead small group activities and learn more about organic gardening. Week-long placements offer all the fun of summer camp with the opportunity to develop leadership skills. Jr. Counselors come 30 minutes before campers arrive and stay 30 minutes after campers depart to help set-up and clean-up (these times are built into the listing below). Leadership training and orientation will be provided.

Engage in fun, hands-on activities as you create your own masterpieces in our Do-It-Yourself Camp! Get your hands dirty as you squeeze, coil, and build original sculptures out of clay. Put on the chef’s hat and make desserts that are both delicious and beautiful. Turn a pair of boring white canvas shoes into art by painting a fashion-forward design and showing them off on the runway. Become a chocolatier at Dawn’s Candy & Cake Chocolate 101 class. At D.I.Y. Camp, we empower our campers to say, “Yes, I did it myself!”

At Mandarin Immersion Camp for K-2nd and 3rd-5th grades, we help campers build language and cultural competency while having lots of summer fun! Our camp leaders are great at making kids excited about language, culture and the world – and they happen to be native-speaking, experienced language teachers, too. Campers are grouped by language experience and ability where appropriate. Dragons, magic, and martial arts! Join us for a Mandarin language immersion adventure. We’ll travel across the ocean and learn about some magical characters from China. Campers will explore Chinese myths, festivals, and foods. We will tell stories about magical dragons, make boats for the Dragon Boat Festival and cook delicious dumplings!

Our Farm Day Camps are a great way to learn about all the great things that happen on a farm every day. Learn all about gardening, composting, recycling, cooking, water dynamics, and caring for all the various farm animals, chickens, goats, horses, and ponies. Enjoy more fun stuff each day with Arts and Crafts, Games, and much more.
