Michelle Delano is an artist and a professor, and joins us from Virginia where she heads the Art department at Richard Bland College of the College of William and Mary. Michelle has a special gift for helping kids of all ages access and explore their inner world through art. Having received the Governor’s Outstanding Faculty Award, Michelle's focus on teaching art and creativity has extended into variety of settings, including schools and community organizations.

We have partnered with Chess4Life in Bellevue to offer campers a full day camp option. Chess4Life instructors make the game come to life through exciting lessons on strategy, tactics, and many other topics that open the world of chess to students. Play chess in the morning and learn to fence in the afternoon. Transportation to and from Chess4Life and RCFC is provided by Chess4Life. Level 1 fencing is for complete beginners to the sport of fencing. We will teach footwork, basic blade skills, and simple bouting techniques.

At Mandarin Immersion Camp for K-2nd and 3rd-5th grades, we help campers build language and cultural competency while having lots of summer fun! Our camp leaders are great at making kids excited about language, culture and the world – and they happen to be native-speaking, experienced language teachers, too. Campers are grouped by language experience and ability where appropriate. Dragons, magic, and martial arts! Join us for a Mandarin language immersion adventure. We’ll travel across the ocean and learn about some magical characters from China. Campers will explore Chinese myths, festivals, and foods. We will tell stories about magical dragons, make boats for the Dragon Boat Festival and cook delicious dumplings!

Camp What's That in the Sky?: (new in 2013) The skies above us are full of many wondrous and amazing objects! From galaxies to stars to moons to satellites, this week campers will learn about the things they can see when they turn their gaze upward. They will also explore the various methods we use to see further and further into the cosmos.

This camp focuses on using our senses to the fullest, as did the ancient “scouts” of many cultures who were able to travel for days without supplies. We will gain greater knowledge of edible plants as food and medicine; tracking as a means of gathering details of animals’ lives without ever seeing them; and “bird language” to allow us to move silently and become more aware of predators.

Puppet Palooza is a week of hands on exploration of a variety of puppet styles (sock, rod, hand/rod and shadow). Students will learn movement, focus, breath, personality and more. Recycled materials and found objects will become Junk Puppet characters. Students will create stories, rehearse, and perform. (Campers younger than age 7 may attend with an adult.)

Camp Sparkle is for any child or teen who is impacted by cancer. The camper may have a cancer diagnosis themselves, have a parent or sibling with a cancer diagnosis, or have lost a loved one to cancer. We offer emotional support and fun field trips each day. Free of charge. Must become a member of Gilda's Club Seattle to attend.

Camp Sprouting Spirits teaches your child how to regulate their emotions, be mindful, respond to stress, and changes in a healthy way. We make most of our snacks, like pizza, a smoothie bar, and “rainbow salad”, made with organic and locally grown produce whenever possible. We also have a yoga or music class every day plus an arts and crafts project. Our activities and games promote compassion, creativity, co-operation, teamwork, and patience. Come join us in the fairy ring! This four-day camp is inspired by flowers and fairies from classical ballets and nature. Each day is split equally between dance and art. Culminates in an informal performance and gallery of student artwork.

You’ll dip for bugs in our ponds, catch frogs in Sapsucker Creek, and search for snails and snakes in the meadow. Summer time is fun time! Have an outstanding time developing your sports skills at a fun filled camp with knowledgeable, enthusiastic staff. Little Champs is focused on the FUNdamentals that are age appropriate and show an emphasis on health and sportsmanship. Campers wil be grouped by age.

Campers will learn new games, such as relay races, and working together as a team. We incorporate the Montessori philosophy in our session. Field trip on Aug. 2 to Les Gove Park in Auburn. Your whole family can attend the field trip.
