This camp is all about putting things together and building. They will transform drawings into 3 dimensional works of art while working on concepts like visual balance and narrative. Students will create collages, wall-hangings, buildings, spaceships and cars out of cardboard, plastic, paper, wood and much more.

Our Level 1 (beginning) camps are designed for the complete beginner. We provide all the required fencing equipment. Our USFCA certified instructors start at the very beginning with the on guard position and basic footwork. We teach basic offensive and defensive moves, the basic rules of the game of foil fencing, and end with an informal tournament on Friday. Junior classes are focused on technique, tactics, and mechanics. Our goal in camp is to have fun while learning the basics of modern Olympic sports fencing.

Seattle Drum School Rock Band Camp is an amazing experience for young musicians of any skill level! It's their chance to unlock their creative potential, acquire rehearsal skills, and learn cooperation and teamwork. The band members will work with a full time coach who will encourage them to build their own sound and even to compose their own songs if they're interested! The final performance, the Friday of camp at 1 p.m. in the L.A.B., is not to be missed by family, friends, neighbors, anyone who loves to see the unbelievable results of five days of collaboration and magic.

Camps are held at both of our Seattle locations: Seattle Drum School - North, 12510 15th Ave. N.E., Seattle, WA 98125 and Seattle Drum School - Georgetown, 1010 S. Bailey, Seattle, WA 98108.

This camp will be a fun exploration of popular music for kids. Participants will be grouped according to their playing level and experience. Each group will rotate through different pods where they will learn contemporary, child-friendly songs on different instruments. Instruments will include piano, drums and guitar. Campers will learn about chords, sight-reading, ear training and ensemble playing. The campers will be able to play in “bands” where they will record a music video of the songs they work on throughout the camp. The camp will work on valuable music concepts as well as skills children can apply to other activities. The campers will learn the importance of working well with others, communicating effectively and helping one another understand new concepts. Every participant will need to pack a lunch each day. Ropeworks’ jump rope camps are directed and run by World Jump Rope Champion and Cirque Du Soleil Artist Rene Bibaud. Boys and girls of all skill levels are invited to participate in our jump rope camps, which teach kids the following disciplines: single rope skills, partner routines, double Dutch, jumping long rope skills, group game choreography and more. Kids work together in a fun and rewarding environment of goal setting, best effort and team building. Play games, learn skills, develop new skills and stay fit in our fun-filled high energy program that really gets kids jumping! Camp culminates with a performance for friends and family.

Are you ready to put your art on the map? Make collages, paintings and sculptures in response to art from around the globe. Along the way campers will create their own passports, mixed media maps, masks and more. This week will also include fun music workshops and a visit to the galleries at Seattle Art Museum Downtown. What is Punk? A genre? A lifestyle? An attitude? Students in this performance camp will ask these questions while learning from the artists that challenged the status quo. From The Ramones to Green Day, punk can be simple an complex at the same time. All Performance Camps run one week with a special performance at at a real rock venue on Friday early evening. For students 8-18, some experience required.

Now is the perfect time to plant your fall and winter garden. Set up a plant nursery, plant seed flats and take seeds home to grow. Create your own seed catalog and garden journal. This theme-based weeklong day camp is a great way to have summer fun while learning about the fascinating world of the garden. Spend five days developing practical garden skills, exploring plants and discovering animals that live in Seattle Tilth's community learning gardens and Meridian Park. This camp is intended for campers entering grades 1-4 in fall 2013.

If your teen or preteen loves gardening and working with younger students, this is for them! Junior Counselors help set-up and clean-up garden activities, assist Children's Garden staff, lead small group activities and learn more about organic gardening. Week-long placements offer all the fun of summer camp with the opportunity to develop leadership skills. Jr. Counselors come 30 minutes before campers arrive and stay 30 minutes after campers depart to help set-up and clean-up (these times are built into the listing below). Leadership training and orientation will be provided.

Turn a pair of boring white canvas shoes into art by painting a fashion-forward design and showing them off on the runway. Become a chocolatier at Dawn’s Candy & Cake Chocolate 101 class. At D.I.Y. Camp, we empower our campers to say, “Yes, I did it myself!”

At Mandarin Immersion Camp for K-2nd and 3rd-5th grades, we help campers build language and cultural competency while having lots of summer fun! Our camp leaders are great at making kids excited about language, culture and the world – and they happen to be native-speaking, experienced language teachers, too. Campers are grouped by language experience and ability where appropriate. Dragons, magic, and martial arts! Join us for a Mandarin language immersion adventure. We’ll travel across the ocean and learn about some magical characters from China. Campers will explore Chinese myths, festivals, and foods. We will tell stories about magical dragons, make boats for the Dragon Boat Festival and cook delicious dumplings!

Our Farm Day Camps are a great way to learn about all the great things that happen on a farm every day. Learn all about gardening, composting, recycling, cooking, water dynamics, and caring for all the various farm animals, chickens, goats, horses, and ponies. Camp Beginner 'Bots: Learn how we use robots every day! See how scientists are using robotics to explore our universe. Using Lego WeDo and Robotix parts, explore the basics of robotics, including gears, levers, and more.

Join us for another year of fun-filled outdoor adventure at Magnuson Park! Wetland Adventurers Camp is filled with hands-on nature exploration, songs, games, and nature crafts. Its designed to encourage curiosity and bonding with the natural world, and to develop big motor skills as well as dexterity. This camp expands on the experiences of our Nature Adventure Day Camps providing your camper with opportunities for more fun along with development of more focused wilderness skills. All campers will receive training and assessment in the safe use of knives, and will have opportunity during the week to use this skill with the attentive supervision of our staff. Other skills that your camper will have the opportunity to practice will include some (but not necessarily all) of the following; making fire with matches and with friction, safe and effective fire tending techniques, principles of shelter-building, identifying and harvesting wild edibles, open-fire cooking and stalking bullfrogs (catch-and-release only at this camp, no hunting). Projects might include making baskets for collecting wild food, candle making and hand-twisting cordage! Along with the focus on survival skills, your camper should be ready for some serious on-trail and off-trail exploration at our property in the foothills outside of Duvall. They may find themselves wading through the sword ferns gathering material for a shelter, crawling through a thicket to get at that perfect stick for a fire-making kit, or wading at the edge of our pond to gather cattail roots for a wild lunch. No matter what specific activities and adventures we have during a week of Survival Skills Day Camp, our goals remain the same -- that your child have fun, while learning about nature and themselves. At the end of a week with us, we hope that you see in your child increased self-confidence, as well as excitement about an assortment of new skills and stories of adventure.

Wilderness Awareness School has partnered together with Oxbow Farm, and we are serving up something very special this summer! During this week of daily adventures your child will explore the edge where Farm and Forest meet. In addition to Wilderness Awareness School’s unique day camp experience learning about plants, mammals, tracking, birds and survival skills…we’re down on the farm! Kids will make their own sun tea, fresh fruit popsicles, and farm burritos. They will dig roots and pick fruits, save, sow, and snack on seeds. On the final day, we will harvest produce for an end-of-week Happy Camper Farmers Market! Each day we enjoy storytelling under the Maple Tree, as well as songs, crafts, and play surrounding food, farm and forest life. Camp is held at Oxbow Farm in the Snoqualmie Valley (about 15 minutes from Redmond). It is on a 120-acre property, with 20 acres of certified organic vegetables, berries and tree fruit in cultivation for the fresh market.

In this class the kids learn sewing basics, using patterns and finishing techniques while creating a maxi dress, wrap skirt and cinch purse. Just what every fashionable girl needs in her wardrobe!
