In this inspiring program youth will learn: Yoga poses that increase physical strength and self confidence, breathing/meditation methods to help calm your body and mind, nutritional knowledge of how food affects mood, energy and vitality, methods for easy relaxation and stress management, the power of laughter and positive thinking, how to build strong, healthy relationships and creative expression through art and journaling. During this camp we will focus on specific regions of the world, Europe, China, The Middle East and South America. We will learn about the food and culture of these regions and learn different cooking methods and tools that are used in these areas. On one day all cooking will be done in Woks and we will attempt to use chopsticks all day, to cook and eat! Campers will take home a six course “small plates” sampler from around the world on Friday.

This camp encompasses favorites that are typically inexpensive, uncomplicated, and easy to prepare. In addition to a brief sojourn into ethnic foods, this camp will focus on practical meals and homemade favorites. These dishes are particularly good for young people when they need to keep costs down. Your young chef will rub elbows with many professional chefs all week long becoming competent and proficient in the kitchen by actually practicing hands-on culinary skills with them for five hours a day! Supply fee includes personalized chef's jacket , professional-quality chef's knife, Blue Ribbon electronic cookbook, diploma, daily lunch, and a student's ticket for Thursday Night's Graduation Dinner. Young chefs, bring your parent, grandparent, or caregiver and learn together how to make fun and healthy meals that the whole family will love. Adults, bring your child and help them to gain some self-sufficiency in the kitchen while you simultaneously gain some independence. Camp Sprouting Spirits teaches your child how to regulate their emotions, be mindful, respond to stress, and changes in a healthy way. We make most of our snacks, like pizza, a smoothie bar, and “rainbow salad”, made with organic and locally grown produce whenever possible. Camp TechWise offers instruction in a variety of areas, including:  Photography / Video (short-film): Students will research, script, storyboard, shoot and edit a complete video short film. Game Creation: Students use game authoring software to build a multi-level computer game. Music / Sound / Video Editing: combine video with sound editing (what is called Multi-Track production) and mix in a heavy dose of singing. Programming: Intro to Programming. It’s not easy and you will be learning… but it is cool and the results are totally worth it! Digital Photography Workshop: Students select, shoot, manipulate, and present a portfolio & gallery. SDS Drum Camp is open to drummers of all skill levels who want beat themselves into a fury of rhythmic bliss and group consciousness! Students will learn the fundamentals of technique and time while exploring the magic of self-expression through layers of rhythmic creation and improvisation. The camp will culminate in an ensemble performance in the L.A.B. at 1 p.m. on Friday. Dancing is encouraged!

From the first aviators to modern astronauts, people have been fascinated by the view from above. This week campers will examine the various ways in which the Earth is observed from on high. From spy planes to drones to satellites; the evolution of aerial reconnaissance will be explored.

Step into the KidsQuest laboratory and become a Forensic Scientist! We will discover why certain substances glow, bubble or even change color. We’ll also investigate food crimes and extract DNA.

Summer time is fun time! Have an outstanding time developing your sports skills at a fun filled camp with knowledgeable, enthusiastic staff. Little Champs is focused on the FUNdamentals that are age appropriate and show an emphasis on health and sportsmanship. Campers wil be grouped by age.

Finally, time to wear something other than a parka! To get our summer season jumping we have a brand new kids' summer camp dedicated to, well, summer! In this class the kids will learning basic sewing techniques while finishing a super cute wrap skirt and board shorts to wear at the beach. For the boys we will make two board shorts with pockets. A small materials list will be emailed out prior to class.

Michelle Delano is an artist and a professor, and joins us from Virginia where she heads the Art department at Richard Bland College of the College of William and Mary. Michelle has a special gift for helping kids of all ages access and explore their inner world through art. Having received the Governor’s Outstanding Faculty Award, Michelle's focus on teaching art and creativity has extended into variety of settings, including schools and community organizations.
