Why did the Chicken go to Camp? Each camper will have a whole chicken to de-bone. This chicken will be used to create a family meal that will be sent home at the end of the week. Finally, time to wear something other than a parka! To get our summer season jumping we have a brand new kids' summer camp dedicated to, well, summer! In this class the kids will learning basic sewing techniques while finishing a super cute wrap skirt and board shorts to wear at the beach. For the boys we will make two board shorts with pockets. Introducing young children to the joys of horsemanship is one of the highlights of summer at RockMeadow. Campers enjoy a one-week day camp with plenty of hands-on time with safe and well trained horses an ponies. The Explorer West Summer Arts Improvisation Camp - Theatre, Circus, Fine Arts, Dancing and Singing. The theme of our camp is improvisation and interconnected art. This is a two-week performing and fine arts camp and all students are welcome; you need not be an Explorer West student. During camp, students will explore dance, acting, circus arts, music, and fine arts in the theme of improvisation. How does a painting inspire a work of dance? How does a song inspire a scene? Students will create their own world of art in a camp that is designed for any skill level. Send them to Made to learn the fundamentals of fashion design, color, sewing techniques, and fashion illustration. The Aikido Kids Summer Day Camp is open to students of all skill levels. Students will study Aikido, a self-defense martial art, in a fun, save and supportive environment. We will cover self-defense basics, study the main Aikido skills categories, and develop our inner warrior during the introduction to sword class. Students will develop self-control, self-discipline, focus, and confidence while working with other student in one-on-one partner practice. Students will also take time for other fun activities like jump rope, japanese, speed math, and art projects. We'll also go bicycling every day on outdoor adventures to various Redmond locations including the Sammamish River Trail, the Redmond Library, and Marymoor Park. Students need to provide a bag lunch, and bring their bicycle and helmet for the outdoor adventures.

The Pettijohn Piano Studio offers “Beginner’s Blues” Piano Camp to students with at least two years of piano instruction under their belts. This camp will provide a full week of Blues Piano Instruction. Students who have little or no blues piano background will enjoy instruction that is comprehensive, focused and fun! The week will conclude with the students performing with a professional blues band. Topics include an introduction to the Blues, its history, style and accessibility to any pianist who wants to enjoy its fun. Students will gain confidence as they develop listening skills from ear-training exercises, rhythmic development from group rhythm games, and blues “Chops” from daily private piano lessons and practice time.

During this camp we will focus on specific regions of the world, Europe, China, The Middle East and South America. We will learn about the food and culture of these regions and learn different cooking methods and tools that are used in these areas. On one day all cooking will be done in Woks and we will attempt to use chopsticks all day, to cook and eat! Campers will take home a six course “small plates” sampler from around the world on Friday.

Grab a rolling pin and put on an apron! We’re going to be sifting, whisking, kneading, mixing and measuring as we bake savory and sweet creations from scratch. You’ll learn skills from the basics of proper measuring and correct utensil use to cake creations, flay pie crusts, the basics of working with yeasted dough and much more!
