Each summer, DigiPen offers two-week workshops that introduce elementary, middle, and high school students to a variety of fun and engaging Video Game Programming, Game Design, Fine Arts and Multimedia Production, and Engineering topics. These programs are offered at DigiPen’s Redmond, WA, campus, located within minutes of Nintendo of America, Microsoft Game Studios, and Valve Software at the heart of the video game industry.

Professional game designer Michael Adams has over 20 games on the market with publishers including Cranium, Mattel, Hasbro, and Gamewright. Students will learn to think like an inventor while exploring and playing many genres of games including, dice, deck building, targeting, social, and strategy. Assisted by Michael's guidance and expertise, each child will invent, prototype, play-test, and refine at least one game during the week. Parents will be invited Friday afternoon to a game party to show off all the inventions.

Summer @ TAF is a summer day camp for youth. Weekly programs are project-based learning experiences focused on STEM enrichment. Summer @ TAF runs weekly all summer, except there is no camp during the weeks of July 1st and July 15th. Camp TechWise offers instruction in a variety of areas, including:  Photography / Video (short-film): Students will research, script, storyboard, shoot and edit a complete video short film. Game Creation: Students use game authoring software to build a multi-level computer game. Music / Sound / Video Editing: combine video with sound editing (what is called Multi-Track production) and mix in a heavy dose of singing. Programming: Intro to Programming. It’s not easy and you will be learning… but it is cool and the results are totally worth it! Digital Photography Workshop: Students select, shoot, manipulate, and present a portfolio & gallery. Website Workshop: Our course covers HTML and PHP, Style Sheets and skins (including the popular WordPress, Drupal and Joombla open source themes). Engineering and Robotics Workshop: put on an “engineering hat” and design, build, solve and innovate their own creations. Linux: Install a Linux-based operating system. Networking: Campers connect several computers to create a network. Scientific Thinking Workshop: Students learn about topics and careers in scientific fields and perform hand-on experiments and discoveries. Machinima: make funny videos using the 3D animated characters from video games.

The Vera Project Building is where we have sound recording rooms, a full stage and concert area, a separate gaming computer lab area, an Art Gallery for displaying our work and a very hip lounge.

We will be moving around the Seattle Center / Lower Queen Anne area and even to utilizing some other cool venues such as The EMP, The Interactive Media Museum, and SIFF or IMAX theaters.

We'll take advantage of our beautiful landmark location under the Space Needle enjoying the grass, fountains, and great open areas when collecting video footage or photos to use in projects and for recreation periods.

Campers also have the opportunity to visit local companies to see how their creative teams and developers really work.

LIGHTS! MUSIC! ART! This week at OmCulture Summer Skills Camp your child will be exploring the intersection of creation and technology as a part of the DIY/Open Source culture. Our Artist in Residence will bring in various technological instruments/toys/techniques for kids to explore and play with. The week will be spent working in groups, interacting with each other and with lights, video, and creative input devices that allow them to control, inspire and design their surroundings. The last day will culminate with a performance-art-lecture by the students, letting them communicate their creations, and interact with the audience as they lead them through the interactive displays.

Spend the week somewhere "Out of this World" as you plan the film yourself on a green screen, then learn on our computers to digitally place yourself in an exotic location. Fight a dragon, fly in outer space, sun in Hawaii, and more! Take home a DVD of the video you have produced. Note: Register for both “Video Animated Storytelling” and “Green Screen Video Mania” together in the same week and save.

Pick a fantasy scene, and choose from our computer animated avatars to tell a story straight from your imagination! Narrate with your own voice, add music and sound effects, but the DVD and "voila"! Your video masterpiece.
