Now is the perfect time to plant your fall and winter garden. Set up a plant nursery, plant seed flats and take seeds home to grow. Create your own seed catalog and garden journal. This theme-based weeklong day camp is a great way to have summer fun while learning about the fascinating world of the garden. Spend five days developing practical garden skills, exploring plants and discovering animals that live in Seattle Tilth's community learning gardens and Meridian Park. This camp is intended for campers entering grades 1-4 in fall 2013.

If your teen or preteen loves gardening and working with younger students, this is for them! Junior Counselors help set-up and clean-up garden activities, assist Children's Garden staff, lead small group activities and learn more about organic gardening. Week-long placements offer all the fun of summer camp with the opportunity to develop leadership skills. Jr. Counselors come 30 minutes before campers arrive and stay 30 minutes after campers depart to help set-up and clean-up (these times are built into the listing below). Leadership training and orientation will be provided.

Our Farm Day Camps are a great way to learn about all the great things that happen on a farm every day. Learn all about gardening, composting, recycling, cooking, water dynamics, and caring for all the various farm animals, chickens, goats, horses, and ponies. Join us for another year of fun-filled outdoor adventure at Magnuson Park! Wetland Adventurers Camp is filled with hands-on nature exploration, songs, games, and nature crafts. Its designed to encourage curiosity and bonding with the natural world, and to develop big motor skills as well as dexterity. This camp expands on the experiences of our Nature Adventure Day Camps providing your camper with opportunities for more fun along with development of more focused wilderness skills. All campers will receive training and assessment in the safe use of knives, and will have opportunity during the week to use this skill with the attentive supervision of our staff. Other skills that your camper will have the opportunity to practice will include some (but not necessarily all) of the following; making fire with matches and with friction, safe and effective fire tending techniques, principles of shelter-building, identifying and harvesting wild edibles, open-fire cooking and stalking bullfrogs (catch-and-release only at this camp, no hunting). Projects might include making baskets for collecting wild food, candle making and hand-twisting cordage! Along with the focus on survival skills, your camper should be ready for some serious on-trail and off-trail exploration at our property in the foothills outside of Duvall. They may find themselves wading through the sword ferns gathering material for a shelter, crawling through a thicket to get at that perfect stick for a fire-making kit, or wading at the edge of our pond to gather cattail roots for a wild lunch. No matter what specific activities and adventures we have during a week of Survival Skills Day Camp, our goals remain the same -- that your child have fun, while learning about nature and themselves. At the end of a week with us, we hope that you see in your child increased self-confidence, as well as excitement about an assortment of new skills and stories of adventure.

Wilderness Awareness School has partnered together with Oxbow Farm, and we are serving up something very special this summer! During this week of daily adventures your child will explore the edge where Farm and Forest meet. In addition to Wilderness Awareness School’s unique day camp experience learning about plants, mammals, tracking, birds and survival skills…we’re down on the farm! Kids will make their own sun tea, fresh fruit popsicles, and farm burritos. They will dig roots and pick fruits, save, sow, and snack on seeds. On the final day, we will harvest produce for an end-of-week Happy Camper Farmers Market! Each day we enjoy storytelling under the Maple Tree, as well as songs, crafts, and play surrounding food, farm and forest life. Camp is held at Oxbow Farm in the Snoqualmie Valley (about 15 minutes from Redmond). It is on a 120-acre property, with 20 acres of certified organic vegetables, berries and tree fruit in cultivation for the fresh market.

Ekone Ranch offers a one-of-a-kind camp program on 1060 acres of canyonlands, forests and meadows near the Columbia Gorge. Our residential, co-ed camp program features small groups of no more than 20 children per session and a 6:1 camper/staff ratio or better. Horse camp sessions emphasize the special relationship between children and horses. Campers spend many hours each day with our wonderful horses, grooming, learning groundwork, practicing in the arena, and going on long trail rides through spectacular country. We ride bareback and western. When not with the horses, campers are engaged in a variety of art projects, nature explorations, swimming, ranch activities and chores. Our garden-fresh, from-scratch food is a highlight of the camp experience (many a camper has learned to love their vegetables in the Yummy Tummy Cafe). Campers sleep in our A-frame longhouse, in tipis, under the stars, or in the hay barn where we listen to the horses breathe all night long. The All-Level Horse Camp sessions have a maximum group size of 24 and a minimum staff:camper ratio of 1:5.  This is one of our co-ed sessions.

This community-based three-week backpacking adventure will help your teen navigate the challenging road from childhood to adulthood. Your teen will have a chance to imagine how they want to be as adults, and then explore and practice what this means to them and their families, friends and communities. During three exciting weeks, teens develop a range of personal and interpersonal skills. A long backpacking trek lets them practice teamwork and wilderness skills. Solo time, journalling and nightly talking circles help them connect to and articulate their deeper thoughts and dreams.

Excite your young adventurer! Send you child along on a fun-filled introduction to wilderness and community. This Journeys is perfect for the first time camper or a young mountain trekker. Under the guidance and encouragement of our experienced staff and elders, participants will learn to cultivate a variety of interpersonal and wilderness skills. This happens in a challenging, yet supportive environment. As a result, children will come away with resources that will aid them in their day-to-day lives as they approach the mysteries of adolescence. Our programs are limited to 9 participants each out of respect for the wild places that we travel. Register early to make sure that your child has a spot on this Journey.

This five night camp is focused on learning wilderness survival skills basics while practicing them daily at our school campus near Duvall. Campers will have opportunities to practice fire making, knife safety and carving, shelter construction and primitive cooking. They may choose to create their own fire kit, spoon, bowl or other similar craft to take home. Participants will also have the opportunity to sleep in shelters they have constructed from natural materials. They are sure to bring home amazing stories from this week with us! Survival Overnight Camp begins at 1 p.m. on Sunday and ends at 12 p.m. on Friday. Parents are encouraged to arrive at 11 a.m. on Friday. All youth overnight participants must return a signed Physician’s Medical Form upon registration. This is for the safety of our participants and our organization. Completion of this form will require a physical exam completed within one year of the course date, and an appointment with that physician for the form to be filled out. We appreciate your understanding.

Camp Sprouting Spirits teaches your child how to regulate their emotions, be mindful, respond to stress, and changes in a healthy way. We make most of our snacks, like pizza, a smoothie bar, and “rainbow salad”, made with organic and locally grown produce whenever possible. We also have a yoga or music class every day plus an arts and crafts project. Our activities and games promote compassion, creativity, co-operation, teamwork, and patience. The entire camp is outdoors and we walk to the Rose Garden daily! We emphasize nature, yoga, dance, music, games, cooking, building fairy-houses. Every child has a blast at Sprouting Spirits! You will not be let down.

Brightwater is full of wildlife like frogs, snakes, coyotes, deer, and eagles to inspire the art we create and fuel our explorations. This camp is perfect for campers who love art and spending time outdoors.
