Give your kids the chance to rock out for 5 days straight this summer and witness how, out of the chaos and cacophony, a group of unassuming kids is transformed into a rock star army, ready to save the world one show at a time! ...there will also be candy. Each camp has a student-to-staff ratio of no more than 5-to-1. The Explorer West Summer Arts Improvisation Camp - Theatre, Circus, Fine Arts, Dancing and Singing. The theme of our camp is improvisation and interconnected art. This is a two-week performing and fine arts camp and all students are welcome; you need not be an Explorer West student. During camp, students will explore dance, acting, circus arts, music, and fine arts in the theme of improvisation. How does a painting inspire a work of dance? How does a song inspire a scene? Students will create their own world of art in a camp that is designed for any skill level. 'Up in the Sky': We will explore, dance, and sing about all things above us: sunshine, kites, birds, stars, butterflies and clouds! A focus on colors and counting complements the musical lessons. Your child can continue the theme of Up in the Sky with an experienced art instructor exploring art materials in 3-dimensional form, such as clay, decoupage, paper mache and more! Available Thursday or Friday mornings 6/20-7/19 (no class week of July 4th). Ages 1.5-3: Caregiver participation required. The Pettijohn Piano Studio offers “Beginner’s Blues” Piano Camp to students with at least two years of piano instruction under their belts. This camp will provide a full week of Blues Piano Instruction. Students who have little or no blues piano background will enjoy instruction that is comprehensive, focused and fun! The week will conclude with the students performing with a professional blues band. Topics include an introduction to the Blues, its history, style and accessibility to any pianist who wants to enjoy its fun. Students will gain confidence as they develop listening skills from ear-training exercises, rhythmic development from group rhythm games, and blues “Chops” from daily private piano lessons and practice time.

Heavier Than Air Musical Theatre Camp, located on the main campus of Green River Community College in Auburn, offers an outstanding opportunity for youth ages 3-17 to participate in the entire musical theatre experience, from the audition process to final performances. Due to the popularity of Mamma Mia offered later in the summer, we are offering the same Mamma Mia camp earlier as well. Sophie is getting married and wants her dad to walk her down the aisle. One problem. Who is her Dad? Everyone from her mom and the other two gals from the 1970?s group Donna and the Dynamos, to bridesmaids, fiancés and loads of wild Greek villagers help her solve this mystery. Stage Struck has made a  loose and kid-friendly adaptation of this hugely popular musical based on the music of the 70?s pop group ABBA. Come party with us to such favorites as  “Dancin’ Queen,” “Take a Chance on Me,” “SOS,” “Super Trooper” and of course “Mamma Mia! ” Performance Friday, July 5, 7 PM. Late start to camp on July 5.

This exciting and musically stimulating camp is for musicians at all levels! Students learn to create, record, and perform songs utilizing Clavinova digital pianos and music software including Garage Band. Campers perform in an end-of-camp concert and receive a CD and DVD of student created songs and music videos. Located at Island Park Elementary School.

Summer campers learn Piano/Keyboarding using Main Stem Academy’s Basic Piano Course. The Basic Piano Course develops strong fundamentals for any musician in performing and theory. These camps work for any young person who has no music training to young people with one or two years of private lessons. Each student develops strong learning skills, ear training, in-depth theory and builds performance skills.
