This five night camp is focused on learning wilderness survival skills basics while practicing them daily at our school campus near Duvall. Campers will have opportunities to practice fire making, knife safety and carving, shelter construction and primitive cooking. They may choose to create their own fire kit, spoon, bowl or other similar craft to take home. Participants will also have the opportunity to sleep in shelters they have constructed from natural materials. They are sure to bring home amazing stories from this week with us! Survival Overnight Camp begins at 1 p.m. on Sunday and ends at 12 p.m. on Friday. Parents are encouraged to arrive at 11 a.m. on Friday. All youth overnight participants must return a signed Physician’s Medical Form upon registration. This is for the safety of our participants and our organization. Completion of this form will require a physical exam completed within one year of the course date, and an appointment with that physician for the form to be filled out. We appreciate your understanding.

Scientists have known that most dinosaur species went extinct about 65 million years ago in the Cretaceous era, but did all of the large dinosaurs disappear? Like the coelacanth, perhaps a megasaur lived much longer than previously thought. The possibility remains that a species of large dinosaur lived into the Miocene era, 20 million years ago, but no evidence has been found to date. Join our expedition team as we search the Puget Sound region in an effort to be the first to discover rare megasaur fossils. Do you have a sharp eye, good puzzle solving skills and a curious mind? Then you are the perfect fit for our exploration team! You will discover how to track a river otter, search for red-legged frogs, catch crayfish, and build a beaver dam. Each day you’ll explore our creeks, ponds, and wetlands that are teeming with plants and wildlife and play games, conduct experiments, and have a great time learning about what makes our aquatic environment so special.

This half-day camp for little ones aims to be a perfect fit for parents and campers. Each week has a creative and educational theme that includes activities, games, arts, crafts, songs and more! Campers must be potty trained.

After visiting the sights of New Delhi and a tour of the renowned Taj Mahal in Agra, our tour departs for Leh, the capital of Ladakh in the Himalayas. After acclimatizing and enjoying the Tibetan handicraft markets in Leh at the crossroads of ancient trading routes, your family will be transported to Stok, a quaint village nestled in the Himalayan foothills. For the next six days in Stok, you will have the opportunity to live and work with your Ladakhi host family and to participate in a community service project with the Amale Society, a group of dedicated women from the village of Stok who initiate and implement social, cultural and environmental events. During the home-stay part of our tour, you and your family will become immersed in the Ladakhi communal culture and gain a deep understanding of the Buddhist culture and traditions of this stunning region. Our Farm Day Camps are a great way to learn about all the great things that happen on a farm every day. Learn all about gardening, composting, recycling, cooking, water dynamics, and caring for all the various farm animals, chickens, goats, horses, and ponies. Wilderness Awareness School has partnered together with Oxbow Farm, and we are serving up something very special this summer! During this week of daily adventures your child will explore the edge where Farm and Forest meet. In addition to Wilderness Awareness School’s unique day camp experience learning about plants, mammals, tracking, birds and survival skills…we’re down on the farm! Kids will make their own sun tea, fresh fruit popsicles, and farm burritos. They will dig roots and pick fruits, save, sow, and snack on seeds. On the final day, we will harvest produce for an end-of-week Happy Camper Farmers Market! Each day we enjoy storytelling under the Maple Tree, as well as songs, crafts, and play surrounding food, farm and forest life. Camp is held at Oxbow Farm in the Snoqualmie Valley (about 15 minutes from Redmond). It is on a 120-acre property, with 20 acres of certified organic vegetables, berries and tree fruit in cultivation for the fresh market. This full-day experience for the younger child is appropriate for those who are ready to not only be away from home, but also active and engaged for this length of time! (We also have two half-day Wild Sprouts camps for ages 4-6.)
