You’ve been hired as one of the new employees of the Brightwater Nature Detectives Agency. Your mission is to work each day with your fellow detectives to solve the nature mystery posed to you by your instructor through experiments, games, exploration, and art. By the end of the week – if you’ve done the job well – you and your team will be officially certified Sr. Nature Detectives, ready to tackle all of the mysteries of the world around us. Along the way you’ll no doubt have an amazing time and make new friends, whether they’re human, frog, snake, or beaver.

Learn about the amazing wonders that can be found right in your own backyard! We’ll become nature detectives as we uncover the secrets of plants, animals, water, trees and bugs.

Campers will learn new games, such as relay races, and working together as a team. We incorporate the Montessori philosophy in our session. Field trip on Aug. 2 to Les Gove Park in Auburn. Your whole family can attend the field trip.

We have partnered with Chess4Life in Bellevue to offer campers a full day camp option. Chess4Life instructors make the game come to life through exciting lessons on strategy, tactics, and many other topics that open the world of chess to students. Learn to fence in the morning and play chess in the afternoon. Transportation to and from Chess4Life and RCFC is provided by Chess4Life. Level 1 fencing is for complete beginners to the sport of fencing. We will teach footwork, basic blade skills, and simple bouting techniques.

Be a hero for planet Earth! SAM Campers will create their own green art and learn about environmentalism as they explore the world-famous Olympic Sculpture Park and Seattle Art Museum Downtown. They will make superhero costumes from recycled materials, create trash sculptures, and learn the everyday acts they can do with their families back home to save our planet! Includes a visit to the galleries at Seattle Art Museum Downtonwn. Drop-off and pick-up location for this camp is Olympic Sculpture Park.

Explore all the Northwest has to offer by becoming an outdoor explorer! Develop an appreciation for the natural environment through hands-on experiments, games, and outdoor activities. Learn to identify Washington plants and animals, understand the relationship between living things in an ecosystem, and develop wilderness survival skills. We will visit Stone Gardens to learn to rock climb with the experts.

Kids, bring a sack lunch and a sense of adventure! Each camp will consist of art, cooking, exploring, singing, dancing, and making new friends. Campers have the option to attend a drop-in camp on Friday or you may always choose to drop in for the day on other days ($40).

Learn to speak not just one but three languages that are spoken every day in our community: Mandarin, Khmer (Cambodian) and Japanese. Participants will develop knowledge and appreciation of each language and culture through hands on activities, basic writing practice, music, dance, fun games and both peer and professional instruction.

Join our teen expedition to the wild backcountry of Idaho where we search for tracks and sign of the elusive wolf, and learn what the animals of the wilderness have to teach us. Explore the rivers, forests, and mountains guided by our most experienced instructors. The abundance of wildlife and vast wilderness of this region, combined with the commitment of Wilderness Awareness School instructors to fostering deep respect for and connection with the natural world provides for a truly incredible, and possibly life-changing, experience. The basic course is for beginning trackers, as well as returning students who love the variety of adventures to be had in the Idaho backcountry. The advanced course is for students returning to Idaho who are seeking a more focused study of wildlife tracking and the biology and ecology of wolves. Each course is limited to 16 participants! Due to the remote location of this course, each participant must return a signed Physician’s Medical Form by June 1. This is for the safety of our participants and our organization. Completion of this form will require a physical exam completed within one year of the course date, and an appointment with that physician for the form to be filled out. Le Monde Francophone! French camp for any level of fluency. Spend two weeks on beautiful Canoe Island, located in the San Juans. Polynesia, Africa, the Caribbean, North America, and Asia: explore other countries where French is spoken. Represent your chosen francophone country with your team as you compete in the Jeux de la Francophonie in your favorite sport and present your region in a World’s Fair of native foods, crafts, clothing, and games. Listen to Cajun music, try Vietnamese food, and paint your face like those in Vanuatu. This is the perfect session for those wanting more of an immersion experience.

Ekone Ranch offers a one-of-a-kind camp program on 1060 acres of canyonlands, forests and meadows near the Columbia Gorge. Our residential, co-ed camp program features small groups of no more than 20 children per session and a 6:1 camper/staff ratio or better. Horse camp sessions emphasize the special relationship between children and horses. Campers spend many hours each day with our wonderful horses, grooming, learning groundwork, practicing in the arena, and going on long trail rides through spectacular country. We ride bareback and western. When not with the horses, campers are engaged in a variety of art projects, nature explorations, swimming, ranch activities and chores. Our garden-fresh, from-scratch food is a highlight of the camp experience (many a camper has learned to love their vegetables in the Yummy Tummy Cafe). Campers sleep in our A-frame longhouse, in tipis, under the stars, or in the hay barn where we listen to the horses breathe all night long. Wrangler Camp is designed to give young people age 12 and older a more intensive  riding and ranch experience. Wranglers will get the chance to really hone their  horsemanship skills, explore more advanced trails, and participate in horse  training.  Wranglers will help plan the week’s activities, including meals, work  projects, and a special adventure that may include an overnight pack trip, a visit to our best local horsetrainer, an excursion to a new spot on Rock Creek Canyon, or another adventure we haven’t dreamed up yet!
