Join SYT this summer as we learn to express our creative minds and bodies, develop theatrical passion, and explore the world around us through performance art! By each Friday, through the use of team collaboration, technique-based youth drama training, and our own collective imagination, students will create and present a piece which highlights the theatrical element of the week. Curriculum will vary each session, with a core focus of movement based creative drama. SYT supports families of all income levels. We will work to accommodate students regardless of ability to pay. The Explorer West Summer Arts Improvisation Camp - Theatre, Circus, Fine Arts, Dancing and Singing. The theme of our camp is improvisation and interconnected art. This is a two-week performing and fine arts camp and all students are welcome; you need not be an Explorer West student. During camp, students will explore dance, acting, circus arts, music, and fine arts in the theme of improvisation. How does a painting inspire a work of dance? How does a song inspire a scene? Students will create their own world of art in a camp that is designed for any skill level. Heavier Than Air Musical Theatre Camp, located on the main campus of Green River Community College in Auburn, offers an outstanding opportunity for youth ages 3-17 to participate in the entire musical theatre experience, from the audition process to final performances. Due to the popularity of Mamma Mia offered later in the summer, we are offering the same Mamma Mia camp earlier as well. Sophie is getting married and wants her dad to walk her down the aisle. One problem. Who is her Dad? Everyone from her mom and the other two gals from the 1970?s group Donna and the Dynamos, to bridesmaids, fiancés and loads of wild Greek villagers help her solve this mystery. Stage Struck has made a  loose and kid-friendly adaptation of this hugely popular musical based on the music of the 70?s pop group ABBA. Come party with us to such favorites as  “Dancin’ Queen,” “Take a Chance on Me,” “SOS,” “Super Trooper” and of course “Mamma Mia! ” Performance Friday, July 5, 7 PM. Late start to camp on July 5.

This high energy musical will take campers on an amazing, fabulous, and sensational journey. This camp session is guaranteed to delight everyone's sweet tooth while enjoying a fantasy ride into the land of pure imagination.

In this week-long drama camp, we will learn the tricks of the trade, from stage terms to make-up, costumes, and props. Campers will play improvisation and drama games, learn how to read a script with a discerning eye, and deliver lines with Oscar-worthy expression. With the help of experienced actors and drama teachers, we will put on a production of dramatic proportions.

With Book-It, you will dig into the juicy parts of a story - characters, setting, sequence, point of view - then take it apart and put it together again as a script you will act out on stage. You'll spend the week in teamwork with your peers exploring stories in a fun, physical way. Finally, your new "acting ensemble" will share your work in a final performance. Puppet Palooza is a week of hands on exploration of a variety of puppet styles (sock, rod, hand/rod and shadow). Students will learn movement, focus, breath, personality and more. Recycled materials and found objects will become Junk Puppet characters. Students will create stories, rehearse, and perform. (Campers younger than age 7 may attend with an adult.)
