We'll be working from the Roman versions in this class, by Jove! Magical transformations abound in these ancient stories, brought to life afresh by Seattle playwright Jennifer Dice ("Merry Maids of Nottingham," "Odysseus, or One Thing After Another"). Wonderful stories and great roles for young actors. Everything changes, nothing stays the same. Final performance 12 noon August 3.

Based on Norton’s classic children’s series, this is a story that provides action and theatrical delights, but also resonates with kids on the cusp of tween- and teenhood: Arietty loves her parents fiercely and needs their support, but wants a way of life different than theirs. Her voyage of discovery is a larger-than-life adventure you won’t want to miss!

By each Friday, through the use of team collaboration, technique-based youth drama training, and our own collective imagination, students will create and present a piece which highlights the theatrical element of the week. Curriculum will vary each session, with a core focus of movement based creative drama. SYT supports families of all income levels. We will work to accommodate students regardless of ability to pay. The theme of our camp is improvisation and interconnected art. This is a two-week performing and fine arts camp and all students are welcome; you need not be an Explorer West student. During camp, students will explore dance, acting, circus arts, music, and fine arts in the theme of improvisation. How does a painting inspire a work of dance? How does a song inspire a scene? Students will create their own world of art in a camp that is designed for any skill level. Students will work towards a one-of-a-kind student created final performance for families and friends.
