We have partnered with Chess4Life in Bellevue to offer campers a full day camp option. Chess4Life instructors make the game come to life through exciting lessons on strategy, tactics, and many other topics that open the world of chess to students. Learn to fence in the morning and play chess in the afternoon. Transportation to and from Chess4Life and RCFC is provided by Chess4Life. Level 1 fencing is for complete beginners to the sport of fencing. We will teach footwork, basic blade skills, and simple bouting techniques.

Our Level 1 (beginning) camps are designed for the complete beginner. We provide all the required fencing equipment. Our USFCA certified instructors start at the very beginning with the on guard position and basic footwork. Ropeworks’ jump rope camps are directed and run by World Jump Rope Champion and Cirque Du Soleil Artist Rene Bibaud. Boys and girls of all skill levels are invited to participate in our jump rope camps, which teach kids the following disciplines: single rope skills, partner routines, double Dutch, jumping long rope skills, group game choreography and more. The Level 2 camp takes up directly where the Level 1 camp ended. We will add technical and tactical skills with paired drills and group exercises. We will discuss the tactical implications of priority in foil and how that relates to reffing a bout, and we will do more practice bouting with student referees.

The Level 2 camp is a continuation of the Level 1 curriculum. It assumes the student has had our one week introductory class. We will continue to add both technical and tactical skills, and will spend a little more time bouting with the electrical scoring apparatus.

This camp is for any skater age 5 and up who has completed Basic 3. If you are unsure of your level, skaters must be tested at Highland Ice arena prior to admission to the class. Schedule your test with Mrs. Green. Are you ready to Jump Ahead to the next level in your ice skating? Here's the class for you! This one week intensive course will emphasize mastery of the upper levels of USFSA Basic Skills & Freestyle. Skaters will learn turn & edge skills, advanced stroking, teamwork, a group skating program and fun. The class will learn a group number which they will perform for family and friends on Friday at 3:25 pm. Skaters are encouraged to join our Skater Training Program after completing Jump Ahead.

It assumes a familiarity with the electrical scoring apparatus, and with bouting. We will focus on various tournament formats, reffing, trouble shooting the equipment, and tactics and strategy. We will be fencing all electric, all week!
