This five-night camp is devoted to developing the keen awareness demonstrated by the ancient ”scouts” of many cultures. These were the people who knew the landscape and everything that was happening on it in order to keep their people safe and healthy in the face of the challenges of living from the land. Often remaining invisible, their abilities seemed like magic. Through adventures with camouflage, bird language (the alarm system of the forest), wildlife and human tracking, stealthy movement, and wild edible plants, we begin to enter the world of the scout. Participants in this camp held on our school campus near Duvall will likely never see nature the same way again! Scout Overnight Camp begins at 1 p.m. on Sunday and ends at 12 p.m. on Friday. Parents are encouraged to arrive at 11 a.m. on Friday All youth overnight participants must return a signed Physician’s Medical Form by June 1. This is for the safety of our participants and our organization. Completion of this form will require a physical exam completed within one year of the course date, and an appointment with that physician for the form to be filled out. We appreciate your understanding.

This brand new two-week version of our classic trip challenges boys to step into young manhood with confidence, consciousness and integrity. Our Coming of Age for Boys trip is a classic, tried and true, deep and amazing way for boys to step into adolescence. We are excited to offer this new and experimental two-week version --- our answer to a call from families for an option that fits more easily into busy lives. As participants sleep under star-filled skies, hike among ancient cedars and dip into cold mountain streams, the rich inner life of a boy awakens. Come create magical memories with us this summer as we design art, interact with domestic farm animals, splash in the pool, play camp games and meet other fellow budding artists! Have fun creating two arts and crafts projects per day while exploring many mediums including: tempera, acrylic, watercolor, oil and chalk pastels, charcoal, ink and more. Explore collage, clay, printmaking, painting, drawing, decoupage, crafts and recycled art! Between art classes, have fun playing with the bunnies, cats, chickens, duck and goose, piggies and goats! And, in between camp games, there is always time to have fun on the trampoline or in the pool with friends. It's designed to encourage curiosity and bonding with the natural world, and to develop big motor skills as well as dexterity. Camp Sprouting Spirits teaches your child how to regulate their emotions, be mindful, respond to stress, and changes in a healthy way. We make most of our snacks, like pizza, a smoothie bar, and “rainbow salad”, made with organic and locally grown produce whenever possible. We also have a yoga or music class every day plus an arts and crafts project. Our activities and games promote compassion, creativity, co-operation, teamwork, and patience. Since ancient times there have been legends that tell of those that could communicate with the trees. Different trees were said to have different powers, and if you could communicate with the trees you could learn their powers. Learn their names, listen to their secrets and maybe even learn their language. Patience and an open heart may lead you into the realm of those that can talk to trees. What power would you like to learn from the trees? Join your team in discovering the ancient magic of the trees by: - Learning to identify Pacific Northwest native tree species - Exploring the process of forest succession - Discovering the importance of fire in a forest ecosystem - Deciphering secret codes - Searching for the hidden realm of the tree people.

The Tempest: Magicians, spirits, and fools converge on an isolated island to wreak havoc and love in a playful frolic for all ages. Join GreenStage in this special opportunity for enrichment and fun this summer. In our one week camps, kids will rehearse and perform an abbreviated version of one of Shakespeare’s plays. Everyone gets a role! Audition and resume tips will be covered and head shots (actor photos) will be taken by a professional photographer. Friday rehearsal goes until 3 pm with the performance starting at 3 pm sharp. Costumes are provided. All you need to provide is a sack lunch and drink daily. The purpose of Courage Summer camp is to provide children, both with and without special needs, a safe and fun environment to learn with, be with, and play with peers. Session 1: August 12-16 Session 2: August 19-23 Families can sign up for just one week or both weeks depending on preference and space availability. Each day there is one AM camp (9am-12pm) and one PM camp (1-4pm). Families can only sign up for either the morning camp or the afternoon camp, not both. What are the themes for Camp? Design Thinking Camp at Lake Washington Girls Middle School uses academic and artistic concepts side by side, to create a stimulating, project-based curriculum. Spend a week learning about concepts such as symmetry, balance, and form that are found naturally in both art and math. Use different art materials and mediums to reinforce these concepts with building and sculpture! At LWGMS we use "design thinking" strategies, such as prototyping, data analysis, and creative problem-solving to create artistic and engineering masterpieces. STEAM Camp is an exciting and hands-on learning opportunity for young people with a special emphasis on the STEAM curriculum areas (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics). As educators, we must provide educational opportunities that endeavor to integrate the arts, sciences, and technology for this to happen. LWGMS already embraces this educational model, and is currently in the process of developing curriculum for our students that is cutting edge, and that integrates the arts into the STEM model: STEAM. STEAM design classes incorporate problem-solving, creativity, collaboration, presentation, prototyping, and response to critique (resilience). Do you know a fashionista designer full of ideas and looking for a place to use them? Send them to Made to learn the fundamentals of fashion design, color, sewing techniques, and fashion illustration. We will work with the designers to create a clothing line based on a central theme of their preference, and then they will sew one of their designs to take home. This is a 3 day camp.

Ropeworks’ jump rope camps are directed and run by World Jump Rope Champion and Cirque Du Soleil Artist Rene Bibaud. Boys and girls of all skill levels are invited to participate in our jump rope camps, which teach kids the following disciplines: single rope skills, partner routines, double Dutch, jumping long rope skills, group game choreography and more. Kids work together in a fun and rewarding environment of goal setting, best effort and team building. Play games, learn skills, develop new skills and stay fit in our fun-filled high energy program that really gets kids jumping! Camp culminates with a performance for friends and family.

Oh, Canada! There have been some incredible artists whose music has migrated down from cold Canadian lands. There must be something in the air up there! Students will spend the week learning tunes from Neil Young, Arcade Fire, The Band, and maybe even a little Bachman-Turner Overdrive. There is no shortage of Canadian talent! All Performance Camps run one week with a special performance at a real rock venue on Friday early evening. For Students 8-18, some experience required.

Ever wanted to learn how to throw a punch, fall down, or start a brawl onstage? Now's your chance to learn! This one week class is a crash course on stage combat, the art of safely portraying violence in a story on stage. You'll learn basic moves and techniques, practice unarmed fights, then work the fights into scenes to be performed for friends and family (Friday 3 p.m.). * Note: This class may be an outdoor class (held on the lawns outside the theater), so be prepared and dress for the weather.

This theme-based weeklong day camp is a great way to have summer fun while learning about the fascinating world of the garden. Spend five days developing practical garden skills, exploring plants and discovering animals that live in Seattle Tilth's community learning gardens and Meridian Park. This camp is intended for campers entering grades 1-4 in fall 2013.
