Together, we will delve into the world of insects through 3 dimensional art projects, scavenger hunts through our neighborhood, educational games and hands on dissections of a grasshopper. STEAM Camp is an exciting and hands-on learning opportunity for young people with a special emphasis on the STEAM curriculum areas (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics). In this two day camp, kids will make beach necessities, a swimsuit coverup and floppy beach hat. They will learn the basics of sewing on the machine as well as oodles of other sewing techniques. Each group will rotate through different pods where they will learn contemporary, child-friendly songs on different instruments. Instruments will include piano, drums and guitar. Campers will learn about chords, sight-reading, ear training and ensemble playing. The campers will be able to play in “bands” where they will record a music video of the songs they work on throughout the camp. The camp will work on valuable music concepts as well as skills children can apply to other activities. The campers will learn the importance of working well with others, communicating effectively and helping one another understand new concepts. Every participant will need to pack a lunch each day.
