Wilderness Awareness School Teen Survival Skills Overnight Camp

Event Info: 425-788-1301 | Web siteThis five night camp is focused on learning wilderness survival skills basics while practicing them daily at our school campus near Duvall. Campers will have opportunities to practice fire making, knife safety and carving, shelter construction and primitive cooking. They may choose to create their own fire kit, spoon, bowl or other similar craft to take home. Participants will also have the opportunity to sleep in shelters they have constructed from natural materials. They are sure to bring home amazing stories from this week with us! Survival Overnight Camp begins at 1 p.m. on Sunday and ends at 12 p.m. on Friday. Parents are encouraged to arrive at 11 a.m. on Friday. All youth overnight participants must return a signed Physician’s Medical Form upon registration. This is for the safety of our participants and our organization. Completion of this form will require a physical exam completed within one year of the course date, and an appointment with that physician for the form to be filled out. We appreciate your understanding.

Each camper will work directly with the Ballard High School coaching staff and players. Campers should bring a sack lunch and water bottle. Coach Sara Wetstone's Bio: A three-sport athlete in high school, Coach Wetstone earned twelve letters (soccer, softball and basketball) at Lakeside School in Seattle. Point guard and co-captain in basketball, her team went 96-1 in her last three seasons, winning two State titles, ranked #12 in the nation by USA Today and named Team of the Century by The Seattle Times. She was named Lakeside Female Athlete of the Year at graduation (’94) and was the Student Body President. Coach Wetstone earned her BA in Philosophy from Princeton University, where she was a two year co-captain on the women's basketball team. Post-graduation, she played and coached professionally in Denmark. On her return to Seattle to complete a Master’s degree in Applied Behavioral Science, she coached the Seattle Community College women's basketball team and was named NWAACC North Division’s Coach of the Year in her first season. She enters her third season as Head Coach of the Girls Basketball program at Ballard High School.

Your young chef will rub elbows with many professional chefs all week long becoming competent and proficient in the kitchen by actually practicing hands-on culinary skills with them for five hours a day!
