Lake shakes
Great stuff going on at Capital Lake this weekend – it’s Capital Lakefair, a mess o’fun for the family throughout Olympia. Kids’ Day is Saturday from noon-4 p.m.; the Grand Parade’s at 5 p.m. Fireworks on Sunday at 10 p.m. Free. All ages. 360-943-7344. July 17-20, times vary: schedule here.

Really! The King County Fair now has free admission – one great reason to haul your honeys down to Enumclaw for an old-fashioned hoot. Featuring a wild West show, a kids' tractor pull and baby animals to boot (wait –no! Don’t boot them!). Also, beloved local entertainer Alleyoop! will be on hand. King County Fairgrounds, Enumclaw. Use your (pool) noodle at this fun safety class for swimmers. Learn basic water safety from 11 a.m.-noon; play games from noon-2 p.m. Open swim follows until 5 p.m. for those who participated in the water safety clinic. $4. All ages.
