Fish School
The Seattle Aquarium celebrates the season this week with a Winter Break Fantastic Fishtival. Kids will find plenty of sea creature–themed activities, including arts and crafts, storytelling and a chance to learn about the care of the aquarium's animals. Kwanzaa Extravaganzaa
If you haven't had enough holiday by now, there's still more to come. This Friday, you can take part in the All-City Kwanzaa Celebration. Adefua African Music and Dance Company will present an interactive performance in honor of this African-American festival that honors family, community and responsibility. Float Show
Drive-in movies may be on their way out, but the Float-In Movie is the best new thing. The last Friday of the month, little paddlers can bring floaties and enjoy a movie in the pool! Pirate Party
Ahoy matey! It's Tacoma's First Night. Celebrate New Year's Eve pirate style — and family style — at this hold-the-drunken-revelers day and evening of fun and entertainment. It's worth the drive south. Make crafts, watch a parade, visit museums (including the Children's Museum and the Museum of Glass), check out lively street performers, count down the new year at a pirate party, watch fireworks and more. Another Crazy-people Photo Op
Eastsiders get a chance to test their bravery this New Year's Day, too, with the Kirkland Polar Bear Club.
