Very Campy
Better stake your claim for summer camps -- soon! The good ones fill up fast, and now's the time to decide where your kids will swim, sail, swing, sautee or sculpt their way through summer. Check out two cool events to help you choose:

The Bush School's Summer Opportunities Showcase features dozens of camps for kids ages 9-19.

Then, ParentMap teams up with St. Thomas school to bring you CampFair at Chinook Middle School, 2001 98th Ave. N.E., Bellevue. Free. Saturday, Feb. 9, 11 a.m.-3 p.m.

 
Frankly Speaking
"Despite everything, I believe that people are really good at heart." So goes one of the final entries in The Diary of Anne Frank -- the story of a Jewish girl who lives in hiding from the Nazis during WWII. Her wise, powerful diary has been adapted for the stage. $17-$20. All ages. Wade James Theatre, 950 Main St., Edmonds. 425-774-9600. Gung Hei Fat Choy
Scurry over to this cool Year of the Rat celebration! Entertainment all day, Asian-inspired arts and crafts, and community organization booths. Amazin' Amazon
Ah, the heat, the humidity, the spider monkeys dropping onto your head...take a mental cruise down the Amazon while listening to traditional tunes from Central and South America. Correo Aereo plays a family friendly concert of original and traditional music using strings and percussion. No adults without kids and no kids without adults will be admitted to the show. Chocolate Painting
Chocolate painting? CHOCOLATE PAINTING? It's genius, I tell you! And this event's not just lickin' good fun, it's good for kids -- proceeds benefit Camp Erin, a bereavement camp for children. Kids get a 2-pound chocolate heart and a white chocolate "canvas" to decorate with edible colored paints. Kid-friendly snax, bubbly for the adults. Reservations required. Adult/child pair $40. Love Monkey
Cheap thrills at the zoo! Watch critters "open" their valentines (OK, nom onto heart-shaped nummies, like ice pops and steaks). The animals get a little novel fun, you get to see them being interesting, and your kids become newly grateful for any chocolate morsels you might throw their way. Clowning Around
Catch the Moscow circus in this little theater and you'll feel like you've got a front-row seat! Srsly cool venue for this event, and tickets are going fast (Monday is almost sold out as we go to press). The world-famous show brings you clowns, juggling, and acrobatics. $20-$36. All ages.
