Pulsing, ethnic-sounding music; inspired, oh-wow acrobatics; and European-style clowning: Of course, I'm talking 'bout Cirque du Soleil. Get the kids in their jammies (you must wear pants!) head to Briar Patch Books for songs and stories by singer Patrice O'Neill (co-director of the Wintergrass Festival in Tacoma and all-around lovely person) and guitarist Hilary Field, whose collection of international lullabies, Siente, has won multiple awards from parenting organizations. Lucidarium Family Concert
What's a Lucidarium? It's a super-cool Medieval/Italian ensemble taking a swing through Seattle as they tour the world. Their family-friendly concert shows kids the story of Purim, and how it was celebrated in song in several Jewish cultures with cool period wind and string instruments, similar to dulcimers, lutes and guitars. Ages 5 and up. Town Hall Seattle, 1119 Eighth Ave., Seattle. Tickets are $5-$10 and are still available -- call 206-325-7066 in advance or get them at the door. Sunday, April 27, 1 p.m.

Swanky soiree!
We don't mind admitting it, we're getting a little carried away. First, we line up a panel of cool women to talk about work/family balance; then we get Mona Locke to moderate....now, Tom Douglas is making the snacks! Enjoy free appies (and fabulous "O" chardonnay for $2 a glass!), listen, mingle and plot your next move! Join us April 29th - tickets are still available!

I just love this gorgeous new disk: "Sophisticated, lush jazz productions; deep eco-message lyrics...kids' music, yes, but smoothly hip enough for the dinner hour, too."
