Bug huggers
Take your lil' crawlies for a close look at water bugs! Examine live aquatic insects from local watersheds and learn about how they fit into the food chain. $5-$7. First graders and up. They're back! Celebrate the return of migratory birds that winter in South America, dahling. This cool event at the aquarium features kids' activities and demonstrations: Saturday -- 10:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m., diving birds; 11 a.m., meet a bird biologist; 12:30 p.m., shorebirds. Sunday --- 10:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m., diving birds; 11 a.m., meet a bird expert/learn about backyard habitats; 12:30 p.m., shorebirds. Free with admission: $10-$15, 3 and under free. All ages. It's Mushroom Maynia, an event so fab they've tossed in an extra "y!" Spend the day with your toadies, learning how to ID mushrooms, fascinating fungi facts, and more.
