Fear factor
No, you won't have to eat worms, but this cool new exhibit is all about fear, phobias and more. Scream! Featuring Goose Bumps! The Science of Fear is heavy on the punctuation, and on the neurobiology, psychology and physiology behind the things that creep us out. Hands-on activities include the Fear Lab and the Fear Challenge Course, where you can face up to common fears, like loud noises, electric shock, animals, and falling (sadly, fear of Teletubbies is not addressed). I'd tell you more but I'm scared. Free with admission. Ages 5 and up. OMSI, 1945 S.E. Water Ave., Portland. Through Jan. 3: Tuesdays-Sundays 9:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Also open Mondays on Portland School holidays.

Friday, Oct. 9, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
