Shell game
Mollusks, oysters, and clams, oh my! OMSI's 44th annual shell show is a chance to check out specimens from all around the world. Free with admission. All ages. OMSI, 1945 S.E. Water Ave, Portland. Friday, Sept. 25-Sunday, Sept. 27, 9:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m.


Nice juggles
Can you relate? Jugglers from all over converge in Portland for the three-day Portland Juggling Festival! Get in on the fun -- take a basic juggling or unicycle workshop and watch open juggling sessions, and don't miss the Juggling and Vaudeville Extravaganza on Saturday (7 p.m. at Benson High School; tickets are $8-$16 and are sold separately), where big-name and local variety acts show off their mad skillz. Three-day pass: $20-$35; day pass $10-$15. All ages. Reed College Sports Complex, 3203 S.E. Woodstock Blvd., Portland. Friday, Sept. 25, 6 a.m.-10:45 p.m.; Saturday, Sept. 26, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.; Sunday, Sept. 27, 10 a.m.-3:30 p.m.


Sprout out
Learn cool ways to live more sustainably at the Green Sprouts Festival! Topics include babywearing, vaccines, healthful food and baby shower alternatives. Lots to do for the kiddos, too, including live music and sing alongs, Lady Bug Nature walks and arts & crafts. $3 suggested donation. All ages. 700 N. Rosa Parks Way, Portland. Bogg down!
Local DJs Belinda and Hova (of the Greasy Kid Stuff radio show, Baby Loves Disco, and other dance parties for kids around town) are on hand to celebrate the release of "Greasy Kid Stuff 3: Even MORE Stuff From Inside the Radio!" Pirate rockers Captain Bogg & Salty will play a few songs, too. Free. All ages. Reading Frenzy, 921 S.W. Oak St., Portland. Saturday, Sept. 26, 3 p.m.


Creature feature
Chinchillas, geckos, and all manner of weird and wonderful critters will be on display at the Unique Animal Expo. Check out (and take home as a pet -- if you dare) a variety of unusual animals -- birds, fish, reptiles and mammals. $4-$8, under 5 free. All ages. The Washington County Fair Complex, 873 N.E. 34th Ave., Hillsboro. Saturday, Sept. 26 and Sunday, Sept. 27, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.


Culture vultures
..and other critters will be on hand for World Animal Festival, a chance to learn how cultures from around the world celebrate the critters they live with. Hear animal folklore, watch performance art, and enjoy arts and crafts, exhibits and educational activities presented by local cultural groups. Daily 10 a.m-4 p.m. Free with admission. All ages. Oregon Zoo, 4001 S.W. Canyon Road, Portland. Saturday, Sept. 26-Sunday, Oct. 4: daily, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
