Meet polar scientists, watch demos, browse exhibits and take part in a number of activities that scientists who work in the Arctic and Antarctic would do – like wearing cold-weather parkas and building igloos. Don't miss the smashing ice demo! Polar Science Weekend is presented in partnership with the University of Washington's Applied Physics Laboratory. Free with admission. All ages. James’ life is the pits – until he stumbles upon a giant peach! Nothing fuzzy about this adaptation of James and the Giant Peach, Roald Dahl’s classic fantasy tale. $13-$17. Ages 6 and up. It’s a party so fun, it will have your head spinning! Learn about all things owly at the Owl Prowl Party and Walk. Enjoy children’s book readings, games and owl pellet dissections. Then hike deep into the forest to call down our resident barred owls. This is a great opportunity to have a safe and exciting night hike in the forest and to learn how to “speak” owl. Bears – and other beloved stuffed animals - get a “checkup” to help alleviate their owners’ anxieties about going to the doctor. Minor animal injuries will be tended to in a mini hospital. Kids love this classic tale of the original eco-warrior, Johnny Appleseed: A Tall Tale. Book-It Theatre performs the story of the adventurous young John Chapman, who plants apple orchards out West. $7. Grades K-8. The annual SJCC Purim Carnival has 25 carnival games, an inflatable slide, cotton candy, dancing, music and prizes…and…pizza. Lots of activities for kids 5 and younger, including grogger making, edible necklaces, bouncy ball room, face painting and storytelling. Open to all.
