Head to the Multnomah Arts Center for a free, one-hour introduction to the Art Adventures Art Safari class! Kids use media such as paint and clay to create collage, sculptures and other projects that develop their fine motor and creative thinking skills. Call to register: 503-823-2787. Looking for a family friendly volunteer opportunity? Head to Metro's Native Plant Center to harvest native bulbs, replant seedlings, pot up native species, and do other activities related to plant conservation. Bee careful!
Kids of all school ages are invited to spell their brains out at the new Portland Youth Spelling Bee! Kids will be divided into grade-level groups and have the chance to win free pizza, drinks and T-shirts. Winners of each weekly event can advance to the quarterly semi-finals (the grand champ will win a free pizza party for his or her class).
