Well, the heroine may be -- but the show is not. SecondStory Repertory stages an adaptation of Sleeping Beauty (developed at Seattle Children's Theatre to much acclaim) that includes cool sword fights and a main character whose sleepiness doesn't interfere with her spunk. Jan. 7-23:
Fridays 7 p.m.; Saturdays, Sundays 1 p.m., 4 p.m.  Sweet, sweet Sandy and bad-boy Danny fall in love cute over the summer, but when school starts they discover that their cliques don't exactly line up. Jan. 7-9: Friday 8 p.m.; Saturday 2 p.m., 8 p.m.; Sunday 1 p.m., 6:30 p.m. Acclaimed puppeteers Paul Mesner Puppets present four West African Anansi tales at Northwest Puppet Center, in which the crafty Anansi outwits animals of greater size but fewer brains. Dig out your Hawaiian shirts for family dance party Tiki Time at the Luau Lounge (held at Pacific West Performing Arts in Everett) and join the costume competition, check out tropical decorations and dance dance dance with your under-10 kids! Saturday, Jan. 8, 1-4
p.m. Our favorite musical critters Recess Monkey play the Kids Rock Series at Mount Baker Community Club! (Yeah, I know monkeys aren't apes but I couldn't resist.) Saturday, Jan. 8, 10:30 a.m. Local singer-songwriter Eric Ode is an upbeat guy with an easygoing style, and he plays sweet, gently funny music for kids (that won't gag the grownups) -- and also deploys puppets, audience interaction and poetry!
