JUNE 21: Make Music Day is a free celebration of music around the world always held on Summer Solstice – the longest day of the year, June 21st.
Launched in 1982 in France as the Fête de la Musique, it is now held on the same day in more than 800 cities in 120 countries. Completely different from a typical music festival, Make Music Day is open to anyone who wants to take part. All of it is free and participatory for everyone, all ages and genres, all live performances, at multiple venues and public spaces. Make Music Seattle, a non-profit organization, was created in 2015 to celebrate music in Seattle, the City of Music.
