Back-to-School Organization Genius!

Calendars, planners, sticker charts and organizers to help you and your kids earn an A+

Published on: August 15, 2014

With the onset of school, family schedules get infinitely busier. Everyone knows that writing down activities, appointments and due dates for homework helps to control the chaos. But it can be hard to find the right tools to keep the family on track. We’ve found 10 fun products to organize everything, and most of these products can be personalized, making organization fun — or at least less daunting!

Make the most of your fridge front

With busy schedules and multiple family members, the best way to keep everyone on track is with a wall calendar. This dry-erase model is perfect for the fridge door — where you know everyone will see it! The calendar itself measures 12 by 18 inches, and the bottom features a "To Do" and "To Buy" areas for list making. The product comes with magnets and stickers for hanging, plus a black dry-erase marker and a clip to hold the pen in place. Try using a different color pen for each family member. This calendar is perpetual, so you can use it for years to come! Check it out on etsy

Vintage chic chalkboard

If you prefer a more vintage look for a perpetual calendar, look no farther than this custom-made perpetual chalkboard calendar from Kimbee’s Creations. This generous 22-by-28-inch poster is personalized with your name plus a quote of your choosing. You frame it, and then use the included white Chalk Bistro Marker to write in your appointments. The Chalk Bistro Marker looks just like real chalk, but wipes off like a dry-erase marker.

Put a sticker on it!

Marla Cilley, AKA the FlyLady, is a guru of family organization. Her I’m Flying Calendar is for 17 months, August 2014 through December 2015, making it perfect for the start of the school year. The calendar is spiral-bound and measures 14 by 21 inches when opened. The squares are big enough to be seen from across the room at 1.88 by 3.2 inches in size. It comes with an optional sticker set, student or regular. Each sticker set comes with a FlyLady magnet, purple pen and four pages of fun stickers. Be sure and check out FlyLady’s website for lots of organizational advice.

Printable weekly planner

Is your schedule so busy that looking at the entire month makes you dizzy? Try this weekly planner from the Etsy shop Frameworks Prints. This product is a PDF that you download, save, and then print out a fresh one each week. You choose the colors, and even choose a quote or name for the top. At 8.5 by 11 inches, there is plenty of space to write in everything on your list! If you like the printable weekly calendar, then you’ll love the weekly planning kit. This kit contains the weekly planner, plus a weekly meal planning document and a grocery list.

Ban boring binders

No more boring binders! Send kids back to school in style with these personalized three-ring binders. You choose a pattern, color and monogram to make your book truly special. These are also great for containing your lists and schedules for the entire family plus school rosters, phone lists and after-school-activity information. Plus, once your kids start bringing home completed school and art work, you can store it, organized by year or class, in one of these! The folks at Happy Hour Market can also make one-inch and three-inch sizes and they have almost any color you could dream of!

Organize snacks

Have a kid with food allergies or intolerances? Make it easy for daycare and school teachers by creating a "snack pack" filled with safe foods for your child. Then, label the safe food bin with this custom decal from the Etsy shop Showcase66. Personalize with your child’s allergy and choose a color for the self-adhesive vinyl decal. At 13 by 4 inches, no one will miss this label! Order a couple and designate a bin at home for safe snacks when others are caring for your child.

Manage money with stickers

Ever send your kid to school with money for a field trip or book order only to have it get lost somewhere in between? Try these personalized money stickers from Babyfables to help clarify where that cash is supposed to go. These come in a set of twenty 4.25 by 2 inch stickers, customized with your child’s name. Just peel and stick on the envelope, then check the box on the handy list for what the money is intended.

Keep track of homework

Ahh, homework. It’s the bane of every parent’s existence. Especially when your young student remembers that an assignment is due the next day, at ten PM the night before. Try giving your kid his or her own homework organizer from Happy Organized Home. This is an instant download that you print out yourself and the shop has several fun designs available. Now you just have to make sure that they use it!
