Emergencies

Towel — Whether you’re in the midst of potty-training or just happen to get soaked on the way to the car in the Target parking lot, a towel is an under-the-radar essential. It's also handy for drying playground equipment such as swings and slides on those wet Seattle days. A quick-drying towel is even better so you aren’t left with a soggy bundle when you get to your destination.

Tupperware — If you’re potty training, you might consider packing a portable potty seat, but, at the very least, consider packing up your car travel kit into a little plastic tub that could come in very handy one day.

Wipes — Always, always have wipes on hand. I can’t tell you the number of times I‘ve simply forgotten to throw wipes in my diaper bag and have been saved by my car stash. And they’re not just for babies, either. Moms, dads and kids of all ages make messes at the most inconvenient times.
