Family film fundraiser: Movies for Morningsong

Students celebrate Morningsong's 20th birthday

During the 2008 One Night Count of King County [PDF], researchers found nearly 800 homeless children below the age of 6.

That dreadful number is no news to the Morningsong Early Learning Center, a Seattle agency that serves homeless families by providing enriched licensed child care and health services to their toddlers and preschoolers. It's a unique service -- the only one of its kind in King County -- and, like most social service agencies these lean days, it needs your help.

Fundraiser Movies for Morningsong, held on Sept. 6, is a fun way for families to support the agency's programs. Your $15 ticket gets you popcorn, a drink and a seat in Ballard's Majestic Bay Theatre for a screening of The Jungle Book. Wear your pajamas (yes, even you adults). Organizers want to fill up the house -- that's 270 seats -- so don't keep them hanging. Get your tickets right away.

Family Services will also be collecting goods and gear for the Baby Boutique, where homeless families can pick up diapers, toys and clothes for their kids. Bring items for children ages 1-5.
