Thinking about visiting Northwest Trek before summer ends? Have they got a deal for you.
To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the land donation (by Dr. David Hellyer and his wife, Connie Hellyer) that created the park, the Trek is offering a tramful of great deals to visitors.
Through Sept. 20, all visitors will receive $4 off general admission, and the 40th person through the front gate every day will receive free admission. Also -- people born in 1971, take note! If you're 40, you'll get in for free on Fridays (with ID).
Look for $4 meal specials -- including a kids' meal -- in the cafe, specials in the gift shop, and $40 elk bugling tours on Sept. 10 and 11.
And perhaps the most fun: The park will be conducting "Random Acts of Awe" throughout the celebration, in which randomly selected visitors will get behind-the-scenes, small-group tours of the exhibits and animal caretaking areas. Special scavenger hunts and activities for the kids, too.
