Since 1964, Seattle Country Day School has been inspiring gifted children in grades K-8 to discover their potential through inquiry.
Students are the center of a dynamic learning and discovery process. Experienced teachers focus on intellectual and character growth, attending to the social, ethical, and emotional needs of sensitive and capable students.
Small classes generate curiosity and innovation through inquiry learning, and provide opportunities for collaborative experiences with a curriculum rich in mathematics, science, technology, humanities, and the arts.
Seattle Country Day School entry points are kindergarten, third grade, and sixth grade; applications are accepted at all grades level.
Tours can be scheduled on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays by contacting Kate Briscoe at katebriscoe@seattlecountryday.

Before/after school activities
Seattle County Day School offers an “Early Bird” program which is free and opens at 7:30 a.m. each school day.
The after school program, “Extended Day”, offers daily supervised care for grades K–8 students. The program fee is $8 per hours charged in 15 minute increments. Students in the program work in multi-age groups playing games, working with art materials, building blocks, and many more activities. They may also elect to participate in sports, do their homework, use the computer lab, exercise on the playground/gym, or participate in any number of enrichment activities.
Students for whom SCDS is a good match typically score in the top 3% on either the full scale score or GAI of the WPPSI-IV or WISC-V. We will consider applicants who score close to the 97%tile for students who demonstrate other gifted characteristics. We are always happy to discuss whether your child may thrive at SCDS.
Sports programs (Boys)
SCDS participates in the many area leagues and all teams are “no cut”. We offer soccer, cross country, and a games club for kindergarten students. In 2nd grade, we add basketball. In third grade, we add ultimate Frisbee. In 4-8th grades additional sports are added such as volleyball, track and field, tennis, and so on.
Sports programs (Girls)
We have the same sports for boys and girls.
Enrichment classes are fee-based classes and include a wide variety of topics, often bringing in outside experts as teachers. Some classes last the entire year such as drama, chess club, and math clubs. Other classes are offered for only a semester or two. Some of those are art studio, sewing, jewelry making, and many others.
Another fun yearlong activity for 2nd – 8th grade students is Focus Choir which is lead by our lower school choir teacher.
Kindergarten starts at 8:30 and ends at 2:50.
