Shannon Roberts is a trained Human Factors engineer with expertise in studying and evaluating the interaction between humans and systems within the domain of transportation safety. Much of her work is conducted with human participants in the Human Performance Laboratory’s driving simulator. Broadly speaking, her research is focused on three areas: studying and improving young drivers’ behavior, developing feedback and warning systems to improve driving behavior, and examining how advanced technology (e.g., driving automation systems) alters driver behavior.
Anuj K Pradhan is an Assistant Professor in the Mechanical and Industrial Engineering Department at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. He is a co-director of the Human Performance Laboratory. Professor Pradhan received his MS and PhD in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research at UMass Amherst. He was a National Institutes of Health Intramural Research Training Award Fellow at the National Institutes of Child Health and Human Development in Bethesda, MD, and then an Assistant Research Scientist at the Young Driver Behavior and Injury Prevention Group and then the Human Factors Group at the University of Michigan Transportation Research Institute (UMTRI).
