The American Heroes Airshow comes to the Museum’s East Parking Lot with military and civilian helicopters flown here to participate in this family friendly, helicopter-only event. A wide variety of agencies will show rotary-wing aviation’s diverse capabilities in law enforcement, public safety, communications, search and rescue, homeland security and national defense. The flight crews will be on hand for questions, and children are welcome to have a seat in the cockpits. The show also includes the CODE3 Career Expo with recruiting teams from law enforcement, public service and the military. Visitors are welcome to come early or stay late to see the helicopters arrive or depart.
The event also honors American patriotism. At 11 a.m., Museum visitors are invited to attend the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services’ naturalization ceremony for members of the military, first responders and aviators who have applied for U.S. citizenship. During the afternoon, the Missing in America Project will have a Military Honors Service for 12 unclaimed veterans.
