Walks will take place weekends along the Skagit River beginning mid-December and continuing through mid-February. There will also be some guided walks over the holiday break. Walks depart the Skagit River Interpretive Center headquarters located at Howard Miller County Park in Rockport at 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.More information:www.skagiteagle.org(360) 853-7626 \nEagle Viewing SitesThere are many opportunities to observe and photograph bald eagles perching in the bare limbs of cottonwood trees or feeding on spawned-out chum salmon on gravel bars. The place to start your visit is the Skagit River Bald Eagle Interpretive Center in Rockport. The staff and volunteers provide directions to Eagle Watcher sites\, information handouts\, souvenirs\, guided interpretive walks\, speaker presentations\, and special tours.More information and viewing tips:www.skagiteagle.org/viewing-sites/ \nEagle Viewing Tips: \n\nTo see eagles up close\, use a telescope\, binoculars or a telephoto lens. Keep noise low and your movements slow.\nWhenever possible\, stay in your car and use it as a blind from which to photograph the eagles.\nStay away from the river’s edge and gravel bars where eagles are feeding\, especially between 5 and 11 a.m.\nMost of the river-frontage is privately owned. Use public areas along the river and be courteous to local landowners. Do not walk across private property.
